QUE BOLA PODCAST EP. 72: Ahol Sniffs Glue; Visual Creative Artist

QUE BOLA PODCAST EP. 72: Ahol Sniffs Glue; Visual Creative Artist

Episode 72 of The Que Bola Podcast features an interview with Ahol Sniffs Glue, a visual artist based out of Miami, Florida. Ahol is known for his unique style of art, which blends disparate themes from mass media, popular culture, and marginalized pockets of society. His work often draws inspiration from the urban environment and systems of society that dehumanize its inhabitants. In this podcast, Ahol shares his journey as an artist, his inspirations, and the themes that drive his work.

Background: Ahol Sniffs Glue is a South Florida native who has been creating art since he was a child. He started out as a graffiti artist, but soon transitioned into more traditional forms of art. Ahol's style is characterized by its rawness and simplicity, yet it conveys complex themes and emotions. His work often features drowsy eyes, which are a reflection of his unique vision of life, labor, and unrequited love of the mean streets of Miami.

In the podcast, Ahol discusses his background and how he got started as an artist. He talks about his influences, which include other artists, music, and the urban environment. He also discusses the challenges he has faced as an artist, including the commercialization of his work and the pressures of creating art for an audience. Ahol's work often addresses themes related to the urban environment and the systems of society that dehumanize its inhabitants. He talks about how his art is a reflection of the world around him.

Ahol also talks about the process of creating his art, which he describes as a meditative experience. He discusses the importance of intuition and spontaneity in his work, and how he often relies on his subconscious to guide him. One of the most interesting parts of the podcast is when Ahol discusses his use of drowsy eyes in his art in his new project "Geographies Of Trash". He explains how through cycling in the Pandemic he was able to transform ordinary trash off the streets of Miami in to art "Regalito". The ultimate Miami souvenir. It has become a scavenger hunt with first notice provided through his Discord and then his Instagram account.

Episode 72 of The Que Bola Podcast featuring Ahol Sniffs Glue is a fascinating discussion about the life and work of a unique and talented artist. Ahol's raw yet instantly recognizable street murals reflect his unique vision of life, labor, and love of the mean streets of Miami. Through his art, Ahol challenges the status quo and uses his creativity to resist the dehumanizing systems of society. His use of drowsy eyes in his art is a powerful symbol that speaks to the exhaustion and ennui that many people feel living in a big city. Overall, this podcast is a must-listen for anyone interested in the intersection of art, culture, and society.
