Georgia Bulldogs have their day ... again

The college football season wrapped up with Georgia taking home its second consecutive national title after a defeat of TCU in the playoff championship game. 

Georgia’s sheer domination of the Horned Frogs begs an obvious question: Have the Bulldogs passed Alabama as the preeminent program in the sports? With a young team this season, they could be poised for a third title in a row as Kirby Smart has transformed Georgia from sleeping giant to super power.

The second College Football Playoff rankings of the season are out and there's an interesting situation developing with No. 7 LSU. The Tigers have two losses overall, but they control their destiny to reach the SEC championship game. A win there against No. 1 Georgia could make for a strong case to be part of the semifinals. Should that scenario unfold, it would come at the expense of Tennessee, which already has a dominating win at LSU this season.

Georgia led the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll, but the College Football Playoff committee had other thoughts with its first ranking of the season. 

Tennessee was the No. 1 choice followed by Ohio State. The Bulldogs slotted in at No. 3 and face the top-ranked Vols in a crucial SEC matchup this weekend. Clemson rounded out the top four and the biggest upset was undefeated TCU falling below one-loss Alabama.
