    About this Episode

Sometimes we Montessorians get so excited about paving the way for the child's independence that we forget that one of the MAJOR paths toward this end already exists in the child's natural initial dependence on us.

Any time we encounter tools for baby care, including jumpers, walkers, and exersaucers, we look upon them with skepticism - for anything we put a child "into" must be an aid to development and not a hindrance!

But babywearing, bringing heartbeats together, allowing social interaction to emerge on baby's terms, and facilitating easier breastfeeding, should be well loved and fully appreciated in the Montessori community —hands down!

In this episode, I share with you my own love affair with the wrap, mei tai, and ring sling, and I urge all the babywearing parents out there to proclaim these benefits everywhere and be proud of it; Maria Montessori herself was a fan!

Our Montessori magic is a baby game you can play with your baby or toddler and two rattles.

    Love,
    Aubrey

    Awesome Lessons: Sew Awesome

    Awesome Lessons: Sew Awesome

In the modern world, most of us don't darn our socks because buying new ones is affordable - and because it seems daunting. But taking the time to teach your child basic sewing skills may have you rethinking your willingness to fix fabric rather than replace it by punching the buy button. With confident skills, your child will find sewing pleasant and extremely purposeful. And you only need a few materials to make it happen.

Join us for an awesome lesson on sewing. We'll be making a craft your child can gift to others or (if you celebrate) hang on their Christmas tree in the upcoming season.
