THIS EPISODE IS NOT BROADCAST-RADIO-FRIENDLY! Broadcast stations are welcome to it, but you'd better have a finger on the bleep button.

I, Stang, am writing this blurb. I did not, however, create this episode. It was the idea of Rev. peas, who solicited contributions from any listener who would listen, and I believe it was edited by Rev. Fidd Chewley. IT IS AMAZING! It's full of songs and rants that I never heard before, and I was indeed honored to hear it. I was honored THE HELL OUT OF IT! Nobody provided a list of the contributors, but it's a lot of old-timers and newcomers. My favorite clip is Nenslo talking about what a jerk I am. Papa Joe Mama's closing statement is also extremely... climactic. (Wait for it...) Anyway, Happy New World to everyone.

When I decided to end my weekly torture sessions last June, that gave me TWENTY HOURS OF FREE SLACK PER WEEK, and let me tell you, it's been GREAT!!! I used all those hours for Slack, yes I did. For one thing, I became a Graphic Artist again... a graphic RIP-OFF ARTIST, using these amazing new A.I. art toys that drive so many real artists mad with anger. But see, the kind of artist I have always been is a BULLSHIT ARTIST. So these apps are perfect for me. I occasionally post the results on my personal Facebook page or on Dobbs.town, but mostly I'm just having fun. Playing in the new sandbox.

My health has improved too. My bad back has improved since we started walking the dogs and cats again... four dogs on leashes and three cats skulking furtively like ninjas in the woods around us. That was one of my main goals: just being able to walk the dogs around the ranch again. We had a TERRIBLE summer, with record heat and drought, and no rain for 3 months, and WeiMawMaw, Princess Wei's mom, boarded the Saucers at age 93. Actually that was not terrible -- she was good and ready. What a great Mom she was.

I'm still filling SubGenius orders, being the Sacred Scribe, answering emails, and coming up with lots of funny bulldada with my old pals on our own little Old Fellers forum, but posting this show is the first time I've turned on my ancient radio-making machines in six months! Luckily, I got a new phone and repaired hearing aids with an extra gizmo, so I was able to actually hear this tribute show -- IN STEREO YET, something that hasn't been possible for some time, because I was basically one-eared for years. My social media activity is mostly restricted to people I know personally now. "I gave at the office" and I'm taking it easy now.

Rev. Dr. Uncle Onan Canobite will be Sacred Scribe #274 when I croak or go into an iron lung or whatever, so, when that happens, do what he and Philo say, unless DObbs tells you otherwise.

THANKS FOR LETTING ME RANT! Thanks for HELPING me rant! Thanks for ranting and bullshitting along with me! I don't want to get all weepy, but gol durn if I could possibly imagine a more fun, surprising and interesting life and career. If I could change anything, I wouldn't. PRAISE "BOB" and all the SubGeniuses I know thanks to him!!!

And special extra thanks to my oldest old bud, Dr. Philo Drummond! -- without whom NONE of us would know "Bob"!

RADIO SAFE VERSION - Is this really Hour of Slack #1998, finished on July 4? If you don't hear another show next week, it means Stang and Philo were Ruptured up into the Escape Vessels of the Sex Goddesses from Planet X and have better things to do than The Hour of Slack. This episode features the second part of the Philo Drummond guest hosting, readings from the Dobbstown Mirror, a repeated message about X-Day, The Swingin' Love Corpses, and Bob Dylan. This show ends as our radio careers began: Philo and Ivan talking. Even if we board the saucers tomorrow we can still stream the occasional special show, sermons, or dog opera.

Hour of Slack #1889 - RADIO SAFE VERSION

RADIO SAFE VERSION. The possibly short future of The Hour of Slack is the subject of a very, very informal chat between Rev. Stang and Dr. Drummond. It is interspersed with some fine music and, unfortunately, yet more SubGenius obituaries. Newly unearthed versions of Swinging Love Corpses classics are revealed. The amazing guitar medley at the beginning was misidentified by Stang; the band is Shadowy Men from a Shadowy Planet, and the medley may have been recorded at CKLN-Toronto.

Hour of Slack #1888 - After X-Day with Susie the Floozie

X-Day Drill, July 5, Conspiracy Year 1998 - A broken Rev. Susie the Floozie survived the bitter disappointment of the world not ending on that prophesied day, and as therapy, she created this classic episode of her show on WREK-Atlanta, "Bob's" Slack Time Funhouse. Her uncanny ability to pluck pertinent lines from old TV shows and edit them into a new story is certainly on display here. Susie also plays herself and her terrible alter ego Evil Susie, who is even more sadistic than Conky, the evil alter ego puppet of beloved Trailer Park Boy, Bubbles. She utilized several blues and torch songs by superstar women singers of yore, who unfortunately go uncredited in this truncated version of her original 1.5 hour show. It is RADIO SAFE.

RADIO SAFE VERSION - 13X-Day Drill, July 3, Conspiracy Year 2010 - we recorded an Hour of Slack show on stage before a live audience with Dr. Hal, Rev. Susie the Floozie, Dr. Philo Drummond, Lonesome Cowboy Dave and Rev. Ivan Stang. Except for Puzzling Evidence, these are the SubGenii to blame for the three hoary SubGenius radio shows that have been on the air for decades -- up to three decades, in fact. That show is intercut with new collages by Rev. Heart Ignition, sermons from 13 X-Day by Rev. D. Lister and Rev. Richard Skull, and a jam/song by 6 Fisted Tails of Connie (Philo, Pisces, Rev. Angry Larry, Rev. Suds Pshaw, Rev. Phil, Rev. Bunny Day on this particular line-up).

Hour of Slack #1886 - Ultimate Classic X-DAY Special

Hour of Slack #1886 - Ultimate Classic X-DAY Special

Rerun of #534 (1996)! We are now off-world (or about to be), and refuse to produce new shows. Instead, we present a beloved oldie. And we are presenting it two weeks early, as we will be either on the Saucers or at Starwood, and won't want to mess with posting shows then. Back in 1996, just before the very first X-Day Drill at Brushwood, Stang assembled this ultimate X-Day collage, song and rant special, utilizing the best UFO-related clips from our old Media Barrage albums (from the 1980s!) as well as the finest new stuff of the time, such as Nenslo's X-Day anthem and Papa Joe Mama's first X-Day sermon. You'll hear the infant voices of Puzzling Evidence, Dr. Philo Drummond, Dr. Hal, Satellite Weavers, Pope David N. Meyer, Buck Naked... all the Churchly old-timers back when they were mere 30-somethings and even 20-somethings. It is a trip back in time -- and yet, a trip into a BRAVE BRAVE FUTURE!

Hour of Slack #1885 - Goodbye Sister Melodious Chops

Hour of Slack #1885 - Goodbye Sister Melodious Chops

Our friend Sister Melodious Chops rather suddenly boarded the Saucers last week, and this is an obituary show. She was more widely known, especially in the Cleveland music scene, as Vicky Ganger. Her folk trio, Victoria Ganger and Revelry, included Princess Wei 'R.' D'oh. Besides recordings some of the best hymns to "Bob" (and Connie), Vicky composed dozens of funny, touching, and inspirational songs, which she and the two Revelry Chicks performed at many Ohio clubs, SubGenius devivals, and especially the pagan music festivals Starwood and Winterstar. She was a treasured part of both the SubGenius and pagan weirdo communities, which overlap quite a bit in some places, and she will be sorely missed. This episode features her three "Bob" (and Connie) songs and several of her whimsical songs about modern life, especially the Internet. Also included is a Zappa medley performed by The Empire Jazz Orchestra... which is conducted by our pal Rev. Billy, a recent guest at Stang Ranch.
