    • Divorce as a new beginningEmbrace change, view divorce positively, and use resources like Clairol's Textures and Tones for confidence during this transition. Create a divorce registry for financial support.

Embracing change, such as going through a divorce, can be a challenging yet exciting opportunity for new beginnings. Clairol's Textures and Tones offers a solution for feeling confident and nourished during this transition with its 0 ammonia formula and vibrant color options. The hosts encourage listeners to view divorce as a celebration of life rather than a failure, and suggest creating a divorce registry as a practical way to receive financial support during this time. The episode aims to provide guidance and resources for those going through this major life change.

    • Divorce can be tough but a new beginning awaitsDivorce can leave you low on cash and energy, but it's a necessary step for those seeking independence and new opportunities. Learn from past experiences and use them as a foundation for a better future.

Going through a divorce can be a difficult and financially challenging experience, but it's important to remember that there is a reason for it and there is a new beginning waiting on the other side. As Olivia and Jenny, who have gone through the process themselves, shared on The Dough podcast, getting out of relationships, whether legally binding or not, can leave you low on cash and energy, and may involve dealing with manipulation and abuse. However, they believe that happiness and joy are worth pursuing, and divorce is an option for those seeking independence and new opportunities. Both Olivia and Jenny, who met as children and grew up in a divorced family, emphasized that it's important to learn from past experiences and use them as a foundation for a better future. They also highlighted that people change and grow, and it's natural to seek new experiences and relationships. Overall, their message is that while divorce can be tough, it's a necessary step for some, and there is a new chapter waiting to be written.

    • Parents' respectful post-divorce relationshipLearning from parents' peaceful post-divorce coexistence, the speaker emphasizes the importance of letting go of anger and finding peace despite differences.

Despite the vast differences in personalities and lifestyles, even in the face of divorce, it's possible to let go of anger and resentment and maintain a respectful relationship. The speaker's parents, who had seemingly disparate interests and values, managed to bury their cat's remains at each other's houses 30 years later, demonstrating a level of peace and understanding. The speaker herself experienced an unsustainable imbalance in her marriage, where she took on all the emotional, mental, and physical labor while her husband was supportive of her career but failed to contribute equally to household responsibilities. Ultimately, this imbalance led to a tax-day divorce, but the speaker learned from her parents' example and recognized the importance of letting go of anger and finding peace in the face of differences.

    • Emotional abuse in relationships can be hard to recognizeRecognize emotional abuse signs, prioritize self-care, and embrace new beginnings during divorce. Clairol's Textures and Tones hair color line can boost confidence.

Emotional abuse in relationships can be subtle and personalized, making it difficult to recognize. The speaker in this discussion shared her experience of being engaged but feeling the need to leave her marriage due to emotional abuse. She had known her husband better than anyone else, yet the abuse went unnoticed by her until she reached a breaking point. Emotional abuse can take many forms and can be deeply ingrained in a relationship. It's essential to recognize the signs and take action to prioritize one's well-being. Moreover, the speaker emphasized the importance of self-care and self-discovery during the divorce process. She saw the end of her marriage as a new beginning, a chance to heal and grow. This mindset is crucial for moving forward and embracing the post-divorce glow-up. Lastly, the speaker introduced Clairol's Textures and Tones hair color line as a way to simplify hair care routines and boost confidence. The product's 0 ammonia formula and vibrant colors offer a transformative experience, allowing individuals to express themselves and feel proud of their appearance.

    • Divorce: A Financially and Emotionally Draining Process for WomenDivorce can lead to significant financial setbacks for women, with an average drop of 45% compared to 21% for men. Open communication about finances and financial independence are crucial for women's economic security.

The process of divorce can be financially and emotionally draining, particularly for women. Olivia shared her personal experience of going through the inventory process during her divorce, which involved sorting through every aspect of their shared life and finances. This process was much more intense than moving out, requiring both parties to account for every item and debt. Women, on average, experience a larger financial setback after divorce than men, with a 45% drop compared to 21%. This disparity highlights the importance of open communication about finances and the need for financial independence and security for women. The Margaret Casey Foundation Book Club aims to inspire and equip individuals to bring about positive change in various aspects of society, including economic justice. Join the book club to engage in thought-provoking conversations with leading change-makers and visionaries.

    • Divorce and Financial ChallengesDuring a divorce, open communication and planning around finances is crucial. Take inventory of shared assets and expenses to ensure a smoother transition.

During a divorce, the financial aspect can be a complex and emotionally charged issue. The speaker in this conversation shared her experience of being financially responsible for most household expenses during her marriage, and when she decided to leave, she was met with unexpected financial challenges. She emphasized the importance of taking inventory of shared assets and expenses, and the lack of resources available for those going through a divorce, such as a divorce registry. The conversation underscores the need for open communication and planning around finances during a marriage and during the divorce process. It's essential to acknowledge and address financial responsibilities and assets to ensure a smoother transition.

    • Creating a resource for life changesDuring difficult life transitions, the power of community and support can lead to creating valuable resources for others.

During times of change and upheaval, support from loved ones is invaluable. Jenny and Olivia's stories illustrate this, as they navigated divorce and new beginnings. When Olivia wondered why there wasn't a divorce registry, they created one themselves, called Fresh Starts Registry. This resource isn't just for divorcees but for anyone making a brave life decision. It bridges the gap between those who want to help and those who need it. The registry offers curated products and resources for those going through significant life changes. It gives permission for people to be vulnerable and ask for help, while also providing scripts for those who find it difficult to ask. The Fresh Starts Registry is a testament to the power of community and support during challenging times.

    • Supporting individuals through divorce with practical and symbolic itemsDivorce registry offers practical and symbolic items, expert guidance, and community care to individuals going through divorce

The concept of a divorce registry offers a unique way to provide support and care to individuals going through the process of divorce. Items on a divorce registry serve as practical and symbolic reminders of support and new beginnings. From toothbrush holders to career coaching, the diverse range of offerings reflects the multifaceted nature of the divorce experience. By recognizing the importance of community care and self-care, the divorce registry provides a tangible way for individuals to receive the support they need during this challenging time. Additionally, the team of experts on hand offers guidance and expertise in various fields, ensuring that individuals are equipped to navigate the various aspects of their post-divorce life. Overall, the divorce registry offers a thoughtful and intentional approach to supporting individuals through the divorce process.

    • Divorce: A Challenging Transition for WomenDivorce can lead to significant lifestyle decline due to emotional and financial stressors. Delegate tasks to experts, practice self-care, and seek community support to navigate this challenging time.

Going through a divorce can be a challenging and overwhelming experience for women, leading to a significant decline in lifestyle. This is due to the emotional and financial stressors that come with the process. As a divorced doula, it's important to acknowledge the whole human going through the divorce process and provide necessary support. Delegating tasks to experts in emotional, financial, and legal areas can save money and reduce stress in the long run. Community care, including self-care and seeking help from professionals, is crucial for a successful transition. Go through your finances, know what you can buy at thrift shops, and seek support from trusted resources to help you navigate this difficult time.

    • Financially Prepare for DivorceConduct a thorough inventory of spouse's finances, seek expert help, be creative with finances, lean on community, remember lawyers aren't financial experts, ask for support when needed.

Women going through divorce should be financially prepared and proactive. Conduct a thorough inventory of your spouse's financial situation, and don't hesitate to seek help from experts like divorce coaches to save money in the long run. Be creative with your finances and utilize your skills to make money if needed. Lean on your community for support, both emotionally and financially. Remember, lawyers are not financial experts, and seeking their help without proper preparation can lead to unnecessary expenses. Additionally, there are many ways to support your loved ones during this challenging time, and the smallest gestures can make a significant impact. Be vulnerable and ask for help when needed, as you may be surprised by the amount of support available to you.

EP51: Walking Through the Journey of Divorce with Julie Hoelle

EP51: Walking Through the Journey of Divorce with Julie Hoelle

“I was suffering in my marriage and I believe my partner was too. However, when I would talk about leaving, it was so scary to imagine what life would look like in the future.” Have you had a partner that would make you feel like you would not be able to financially support yourself and/or your kids if you left them? “I never imagined when I got married that it would end in divorce.”  You just don’t know what your future will look like and having the facts helps you make decisions for your future. Finding happiness in the core of who you are, allowing yourself to grieve through the process, and allowing yourself to find joy and a healthy mindset will pave the way to building your confidence. Women are good at making decisions if they have all the facts. Sometimes we feel it must be so terrible that we have no other option before we leave, but that is not always the case. We have choices.

In this episode, Julie talks about her journey of making the tough decisions in order to take back control in her life. By surrounding herself with objective experts that helped guide her through the process of leaving, Julie was able to make the tough decisions that ultimately led her to realize the greatest gift in all of it – feeling empowered, becoming a homeowner on her own, and creating new and amazing memories with her daughters in her own space.

A lot of times people are afraid to engage more than just their attorney in this process. However, it is valuable to have a different perspective, different areas of expertise that can come alongside you to help you through this process. At the end of the day, it is about what the money means versus what is in your bank account. Having the facts about your finances can make a huge difference and step-by-step, building up your confidence. You must be able to trust your gut. Interview your experts to find the ones that will listen to you and help you navigate through this time in your life. You deserve that. You do not have to go through this alone.

Julie Hoelle is a working mother, yogi and community volunteer. She has a walk-the-walk, talk-the-talk perspective on making the decision to divorce and allowing yourself the space to believe in yourself, to be happy, and to be financially confident.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • How to manage through the fear of leaving your marriage from a financial standpoint
    • How life will look post-divorce
    • Self-care and how to navigate and preserve what is important starts with making time for what is important to you
    • How seeking the RIGHT experts can help you through the tough decisions
    • The importance of understanding your own financial security
    • Knowing when to call it quits and finding the confidence to move forward
    • Closing out the noise
    • The importance of maintaining your support system
    • Being open to trusting that it will be okay. You do not need to go through this alone.

"If when we get into a difficult situation, our will or courage lessens, and we fall into the laziness of feeling inferior. Thinking that we could not possibly accomplish such a difficult task, this diminishment of will cannot protect us from any suffering. It is important to generate courage corresponding to the size of the difficulties." - Dalai Lama

We, as women, can do so much more than we give ourselves credit for. When we really need to dig down to fight for something that we truly believe in, we can do it.

Join Lyndee and her friend Jezebel on this interesting peek into her life as a sex worker! Jezebel provides a concise, business savvy, and endearing perspective into the work. Some of what we discuss is her educational background, how sex work compares to her previous work, and what her clients mean to her.

Ever wondered what it’s like from the other side… the client of an escort? Here is your chance to get a first hand dive into the world of a client or “hobbyist.” We discuss things like his first experience with an escort, why he chooses to seek out escorts, legalization and decriminalization of sex work, and some raw honesty around his own relationship outside of sex work. 6 Steps to Navigating Major Change Like a Pro (a Hilarious Guide to Back-to-School and College Drop-Off Season!)

6 Steps to Navigating Major Change Like a Pro (a Hilarious Guide to Back-to-School and College Drop-Off Season!)

In today’s episode, you are getting a relatable and hilarious guide to navigating major transitions like a pro.

Join me in a real and raw conversation with my friends and colleagues, Amy and Lynne, as we unpack the major mistakes and 6 lessons learned from "horrible" college drop-off experiences (both our own and the ones we had with our kids) and the fear that comes with any major transition in your life.

Whether you’ve got kids or not, these 6 lessons apply to you. Everyone is going through some kind of transition right now: back to school, back to work, and dropping out of college. It’s a time of saying goodbye, of saying hello to new chapters, and of helping people move into new dorms and apartments and transition to new jobs or a new grade.

That means it is the perfect time to learn the 6 lessons I learned (the hard way) about managing big life transitions without losing your sh*t.

    Listen and Learn:

    • The RIGHT way to empower someone who is drowning in self-doubt.
    • The #1 thing to say to help anyone move forward with confidence.
    • The 4 words that will help you or your child commit to change.
    • A science-backed "bridging" tool to help any child feeling nervous.
    • The 2 most important qualities you have to let your child borrow from you.
    • Why feeling scared and anxious before a big change is mentally healthy.
