Forvis = DHG + BKD: Using SASE to streamline M&A in a Top 10 US accounting firm

In mid-2022 two large US accounting firms, Dixon Hughes Goodman (DHG) and BKD, joined forces to create Forvis, a $1.5B business ranking #8 in the top 100 US accounting firms. Forvis is a merger of equals, with a total footprint of over 70 locations and more than 5,000 employees. Rationalizing the networking, security, and remote access infrastructure of both organizations and creating a common architecture presented a unique challenge.

Our guest, John Bowels, is the CIO of Forvis that previously served as the CIO of DHG. Join us to hear about the path taken by John, the IT leader of the newly formed Forvis, to bring together both organizations into the SASE platform used by DHG since 2019. This is an on-going and multi-faceted endeavor involving cultural, operational, and technical change.

Under lock and key. The principles of zero-trust

Under lock and key. The principles of zero-trust
With legacy network solutions based on VPN, authenticated users used to gain access to everything on the same subnet. Only a password prevented unauthorized users from accessing a resource. Zero trust flipped that paradigm by allowing users to only “see” the specific applications and resources explicitly permitted by their company’s security policy. Where did zero trust come from and why should you care? Today’s guest is Bill Carter, Cato Networks’ sales engineer. We’ll talk about the principles of zero-trust, verification processes and how does a proper ZTNA architecture should look like.

Hypergrowth and How to Get Your SE Team There

Hypergrowth, a term described first in a 2008 Harvard Business Review article is the steep part of the S-curve that most young companies or start-ups experience at some point, sorting winners from losers.

Companies that are focused on this stage will need to overcome many challenges, from technological tools that are not scalable to hiring the right talent and capture as much of the market as possible.

In this episode, we are hosting Mark Bayne, Cato Networks’ VP of sales engineering. We’ll talk about What makes a startup successful, how to build a sales engineering team in a company at a hyper-growth stage, and what is the career progression of such a team.

Migrating from point products to Convergence. Are we ready?

Solving emerging business needs with point solutions, inevitably creates a pile of network and security products that must be integrated, managed and maintained by IT. As networks expand to include cloud and remote users, handling this only becomes more complicated and expensive. Yet, the alternative of outsourcing management to a 3rd party entails higher costs and lack of control.

Can IT professionals avoid the hassle of point solutions without compromising control of enterprise-wide network and security? How can they facilitate business growth and respond effectively to evolving industry changes?

Today we are hosting Daniel Virkler, Cato Networks’ Sales Engineer. We’ll talk about the transition from point solutions to convergence and how it enables IT professionals with the tools to do what they need to do best and not sweat the grunt work

How to keep your best IT talent

How to keep your best IT talent
It’s 2022 and you can’t open your LinkedIn or read a news article without some mention of “The Great Resignation.” The Great Resignation shows no sign of slowing down, and in fact may be ramping up. According to a recent survey from Microsoft, 52% of Gen Z and Millennials are considering joining the “Great Reshuffle,” up 3% from 2021. 35% of Gen X and Baby Boomers are also thinking about a job change in 2022. And with low levels of happiness reported by working IT professionals (putting IT in the bottom 43% according to an ongoing survey of millions by Career Explorer), CIOs should take this statistic seriously. In this episode, we are hosting Branden Odell and Nick Holden, Cato Networks’ Talent acquisition partners in the US and London. We’ll talk about why talented people in tech are quitting their jobs, what are the best incentives and how to adapt the company culture to welcome Gen Z
