    • Creating content is essentialEvery shot that doesn't get taken is a missed opportunity for success, emphasizes Jason Derulo in his book

Creating content is essential for everyone, regardless of the size of their following or profession. Jason Derulo, a successful entrepreneur, musician, and social media influencer, emphasizes this point in his book "Sing Your Name Out Loud." With the ease of access to audiences through digital platforms, not creating content is a missed opportunity for amplifying one's work or expressing opinions. Even if what one does seems insignificant, sharing it can lead to unexpected success. As Jason Derulo puts it, "every shot that you don't take is a shot that definitely won't go in." Creating content is a powerful tool that can make a difference in any career or passion project.

    • Unexpected success from taking risks and connecting with audienceStaying persistent and open to new possibilities can lead to unexpected success. Understand what engages your audience and grab their attention with clear communication.

Taking risks and connecting with your audience can lead to unexpected success. The artist in this conversation shared how a seemingly insignificant lyric in one of his songs almost went unnoticed until it was revised. He also mentioned how he underestimated the power of social media and the importance of understanding what engages his audience. The artist's experience highlights the value of staying persistent and open to new possibilities, as one successful outcome can lead to increased confidence and opportunities for growth. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of grabbing people's attention and clearly communicating what they can expect from your content to keep them engaged.

    • Focus on your natural talents for successIdentify your unique gifts and dedicate yourself to developing them for achievement in your chosen field

Success can stem from an obsessive focus on something that comes naturally to us. This obsession leads us to put in the necessary hours and dedication to master our chosen field. The speaker, who is deeply passionate about music, believes that everyone has a unique gift or talent that, when leveraged effectively, can lead to success. He encourages people to identify what comes easily to them and build upon it, rather than constantly trying to improve their weaknesses. The speaker's own experience with music illustrates this idea – he recognized his natural talent for singing in falsetto and dedicated himself to developing it, ultimately leading to his success in the music industry. By focusing on our strengths and becoming obsessively dedicated to them, we can achieve great things.

    • Continuous journey of successSuccess is a journey, not a destination. Humility, learning, and constant effort are key to maintaining and building upon it.

Success is a continuous journey, not a destination. It's important to identify and refine your unique gifts, but also to remain humble and open to learning from others. Success is not something that can be owned, but rather rented, and it requires constant effort to maintain and build upon. The most successful people are those who continue to grow and adapt, and who understand that there is always room for improvement. Additionally, drawing inspiration from individuals who have achieved longevity in their respective fields, such as Jennifer Lopez, can provide valuable insights into the importance of finding your strengths and working tirelessly to develop them.

    • Staying focused while driving and building a strong company cultureDriving safety requires undivided attention, while a strong company culture boosts business growth.

Distractions while driving, such as using a phone, can be dangerous and potentially deadly. It's important to prioritize safety on the road and put away distractions. Meanwhile, for business owners looking to grow their companies, creating a strong company culture is crucial. Insparity, a leading HR provider, can help entrepreneurs build a culture aligned with their business goals and values. In the end, personal and professional growth is not just about accumulating awards or material possessions, but rather about becoming the best version of oneself and enjoying the journey of growth.

    • The Power of Consistent RoutinesConsistent routines can help transform dreams into reality, even without natural talent. Observing actions and sticking to routines are key to producing results.

Having a consistent routine can be a game-changer, even if you don't have natural talent. The speaker shares how observing people's actions rather than just listening to their words has helped him in his life. He emphasizes that routines are crucial for producing results, as shown in his own experiences, such as writing music despite facing challenges. The speaker encourages starting a new journey tomorrow and sticking to a routine to help turn dreams into reality. He also emphasizes that the book discussed offers valuable keys that can help anyone, regardless of talent, achieve their goals. The speaker's personal experience of using routine to overcome a dark moment in his life is a powerful testament to its importance.

    • Commit to non-negotiables for successSuccess requires commitment to non-negotiables, even on tough days, to stack up accomplishments and reinvent oneself.

Having non-negotiable routines is crucial for achieving success, even on days when we don't feel like it. The term "non-negotiable" means we commit to doing something regardless of how we feel or what obstacles come our way. This mindset has helped many successful people, including the interviewee, stack up accomplishments and reinvent themselves over time. While success brings its own challenges, such as loss of privacy and added pressure, the ability to live our passion makes it all worth it. The interviewee emphasized that life is a sum of good and bad experiences, but the key is to focus on the things we can control and remain committed to our non-negotiables.

    • Effective Collaboration in Music, Business, and Social MediaCollaboration leads to mutual growth, learning, and accelerates dreams coming true. Humility and confidence are essential for effective collaboration. Openness to working with new and less experienced individuals can lead to big successes.

Collaboration is a powerful tool for achieving success in various areas of life, including music, business, and social media. The speaker's own experience of collaborating with others has been instrumental in his personal growth and accomplishments. Humility and confidence are essential qualities for effective collaboration and long-term success. The rules outlined in the book, "15 Rules for Living Your Dream," have been crucial in the speaker's journey as a musician and entrepreneur. Collaboration not only leads to mutual growth and learning but also accelerates the pace of one's dreams coming true. The speaker's openness to working with new and less experienced individuals has led to some of his biggest successes, such as working with Wallpaper and Jonas J. Berg on their first hits.

    • Discovering New Talent and Growth Through CollaborationEmbrace collaboration, discover new talent, prioritize self-improvement through therapy, and find balanced relationships for business success. Utilize customizable business solutions like NetSuite by Oracle.

Collaboration and self-improvement are key to success. The podcast host discussed his experiences in discovering new talent, like Eminem and Rihanna, and the importance of taking chances. He also emphasized the value of therapy, whether for serious mental health issues or simply for self-reflection. In business, he highlighted the importance of collaboration and finding balanced relationships, as exemplified by his successful partnership with Danny White in the car wash industry. Additionally, he endorsed NetSuite by Oracle for its business solutions and praised its customizable features. Overall, the podcast episode underscored the themes of discovery, growth, and the power of partnerships.

    • Choosing the right business partner and people are crucial for successFind a partner with complementary skills, focus on hiring the best people, and aim to surpass industry leaders to succeed

Choosing the right business partner and competition are crucial factors in achieving success. The speaker shared his experience of creating a car wash business, Rocket Car Wash, with a partner who complemented his skills and helped take the business to new heights. He also emphasized the importance of having the right people running the company, as seen in the example of George Clooney and Randy Gerber's tequila company, which sold for a billion dollars despite not being the best in the market. When it comes to competition, it's essential to aim high and not settle for those within your circle. Instead, focus on competing against those who have already achieved success in your desired field and strive to surpass them.

    • Raise your standards and expand your perspective of competitionRecognize and learn from successful people, understand hard work is essential, remain humble and continue growing

In order to succeed and stand out, you must raise your standards and expand your perspective of competition beyond your immediate surroundings. The speaker emphasizes the importance of recognizing and learning from those who have achieved great success and understanding that hard work and dedication are essential, regardless of natural talents or circumstances. Additionally, it's crucial to remain humble and continue growing, even when you experience some level of success. The speaker's personal experiences and anecdotes illustrate the importance of staying committed to your goals and maintaining a strong work ethic in order to avoid falling behind and disappearing from the competitive landscape.

    • Fear of losing accomplishments drives continuous growthStay focused on growth and development to avoid complacency and fear of being surpassed. Use Indeed for efficient hiring to build and grow businesses.

Success does not equate to rest. The fear of losing one's accomplishments and the desire to reach one's full potential are driving forces that keep individuals striving for more. The speaker shares his experience of constantly pushing himself to be better and the fear of being surpassed by others. He emphasizes the importance of staying focused on growth and development, rather than coasting or settling for what has already been achieved. Additionally, the speaker recommends using Indeed for hiring qualified candidates efficiently to help build and grow businesses.

    • Criticism as a tool for growthEmbrace criticism as an opportunity for improvement and growth, rather than letting it discourage you.

Criticism is an inevitable part of life, especially for those striving to achieve great things. As the speaker shared, even the most successful people, like Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber, face constant criticism. Instead of being discouraged by it, the speaker advises finding the light within the criticism and using it as an opportunity for growth. He shared his own experience of taking criticism about his use of autotune in his music and using it to improve his craft. The speaker emphasized that everyone will face criticism and negativity at some point, but it's important not to let it stop you from pursuing your dreams. Instead, view it as a mini test, preparing you for the bigger challenges that will come your way.

    • Recognizing the Power of Inspiring ExperiencesFind a mentor or inspiring figure to guide and support your dreams, leading to personal growth and improvement.

The speaker recognizes the interviewee's unique ability to teach and inspire others through their experiences and articulation. He emphasizes the importance and applicability of the principles shared in the interviewee's book, which can lead to personal growth and improvement in various aspects of life. The speaker also shares his personal experience of being inspired by the interviewee and how it positively impacted his own life. He encourages anyone who has a dream, regardless of its nature, to find a mentor or someone who can provide guidance and support in helping them achieve it.

    • Learn from those who have achieved what you aspire toStudy the routines and dedication of successful individuals in your desired field, aim to surpass them, and learn from your competition to reach your goals.

If you want to become your best self, look up to those who have already achieved what you aspire to and learn from them. Don't just stop at imitating their actions, but strive to surpass them. For instance, if you want to be a basketball player, study the routines and dedication of professionals like Curry, and aim to outdo their efforts. By following this approach, you'll be inspired and motivated to put in the necessary work and reach your goals. Additionally, find your competition and learn from them, as their success can serve as a guide for your own progress. Remember, the key is to take action and consistently put in the effort.

Throughout his career, Jim Thebaut has written, produced and directed an array of prominent, socially significant productions, including his 1992 Cable Ace Award-nominated "America Undercover" documentary for HBO, “The Iceman Tapes - Conversations with a Killer.” He has also produced A&E’s “Bad Cops” and “Execution at Midnight.”

Thebaut was the executive producer for the CBS television dramatic special “A Deadly Business,” which exposed organized crime's involvement in the toxic waste business. He also directed/produced the documentary for Public Television, “The Cold War and Beyond,” which explored the Cold War brinksmanship between the U.S. and the Soviet Union.

Prior to Thebaut's film career, he was a Regional Environmental Planner and responsible for numerous Environmental Impact Statements, Energy and Environmental Planning studies in Washington State, Idaho, Oregon and Alaska. Thebaut holds degrees from the University of Washington, San Francisco State University and UCLA.
