How To Transform Your Beliefs and Unlock You Potential

    en-usAugust 11, 2023

    Podcast Summary

    • The Power of Self-Perception and Personal GrowthIntrospection and self-observation are essential for personal growth. We have the ability to change aspects of our lives and beliefs, leading to a more fulfilling life.

Self-perception and self-awareness are integral to personal growth and transformation. The self-perception theory, proposed by psychologist Darrell Bem in 1972, states that our attitudes, beliefs, and feelings are shaped by observing our own behaviors and deducing the underlying attitudes that caused them. This theory emphasizes the importance of introspection and self-observation, encouraging individuals to critically examine their actions and their impact on themselves and others. Acknowledging that aspects of our lives, personalities, and beliefs can be changed is empowering. Nothing is set in stone, and if there are areas we dislike, we have the capacity to change them. Embracing change and recognizing our role in the ever-evolving universe can lead to personal growth and a more fulfilling life.

    • Embrace change and become the person you aspire to be.Practice self-perception theory by observing and questioning your thoughts, beliefs, and reactions. Choose to align them with your true desires and consciously work towards becoming the person you want to be.

Everything in the universe changes, except for you, the individual. While every cell in your body constantly regenerates, your mind chooses to stay the same. However, if you are listening to this podcast, it means you have a desire for change in various aspects of your life. To achieve this, you must practice self-perception theory. Start by observing and questioning every thought you have, and test the validity of those thoughts. Take a step back from your own mind and view yourself as a separate person. Ask yourself if your reactions, beliefs, and triggers align with who you truly want to be. Embrace change and consciously choose to be the person you aspire to become.

    • Committing to Self-Improvement: The Key to Personal GrowthTo grow as individuals, we must be willing to reflect on ourselves and put in the effort to make positive changes in our actions, thoughts, and beliefs.

Self-improvement requires reflection and effort. Many people shy away from self-reflection because it demands insight and hard work. However, those who genuinely want to improve themselves are willing to put in the necessary effort. It is crucial to question our actions, thoughts, and beliefs to determine if they align with our desired future selves. This process, known as self-perception, involves recognizing cognitive dissonance and utilizing inferential insight to derive meaningful conclusions from our observations. By examining these conflicts and observations, we identify areas where we are stuck and can make positive changes. Therefore, if we truly value personal growth, we must commit to putting in the work to improve ourselves.

    • Embracing Triggers for Personal Growth and Self-DiscoveryWhen triggered, calm down and ask questions to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and others, allowing for personal growth and self-discovery.

Being triggered can provide valuable insight into your own emotions and areas where you may not be free. Instead of avoiding triggers, it is beneficial to embrace them as opportunities for personal growth and self-discovery. When you find yourself triggered, the first step is to calm yourself down and then start asking questions. It is important to recognize that when your emotions are high, your logic is low and your ability to think clearly is compromised. By removing yourself from the situation and becoming interested in understanding the motives and thoughts of the other person, you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself and others. So, next time you feel triggered, take a moment to reflect and learn from the experience.

    • Breaking free from anxious thoughts and healing past wounds.Recognize and question the influence of past experiences on negative thoughts. Take a step back to analyze reactions, address underlying issues, and provide self-support for healing and breaking free from unnecessary worry and fear.

Our thoughts can sometimes spiral into worst-case scenarios based on past traumas and triggers. We have a tendency to jump to conclusions and assume the worst, even when someone's comment may have been harmless. It is important to recognize when our thoughts are influenced by past experiences and question the validity of these thoughts. By taking a step back and analyzing our reactions, we can start addressing the underlying issues and provide ourselves with the support and understanding we need. Instead of getting caught up in anxious thoughts, we can work on healing our past wounds and break free from the cycle of unnecessary worry and fear.

    • Embracing discomfort for personal growth.Facing uncomfortable thoughts and emotions is necessary for personal growth and a more fulfilling life.

Self-discovery and personal growth can be uncomfortable yet necessary. Many people avoid introspection and change because they prefer to stay in their comfort zones and avoid triggering experiences. However, truly understanding oneself requires facing uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, and past traumas that may resurface. It's important to recognize that these emotions have always been present within us, and they need to be acknowledged and healed in order to move forward. Taking ownership of one's emotions is crucial, as no one can "make" us feel a certain way without our consent. Embracing personal growth and facing discomfort allows for significant development and a more fulfilling life.

    • The Power to Control Our Emotions: Recognizing and Understanding TriggersBy acknowledging our triggers and taking steps to improve ourselves, we have the power to control how we respond to situations and grow as individuals.

Our emotions are not caused by external factors, but are instead reflections of what already exists within us. When someone triggers anger in us, it's not because they are making us angry, but because they are highlighting the anger that already resides inside of us. This realization can be mind-blowing because it means that we have the power to control our emotions and how we respond to situations. It's uncomfortable because it forces us to confront past experiences and beliefs that may no longer align with who we want to be. However, by recognizing and acknowledging these triggers, we can work on improving ourselves and becoming the person we aspire to be. Removing ourselves from our own heads when triggered takes effort and intention, but it is a step towards self-growth and personal development.

    • Shaping Our Internal Narrative for Personal GrowthBy examining our thoughts, actions, beliefs, and reactions, we can align our internal narrative with our goals and aspirations, gaining better control over our perceptions and creating a positive outlook on life.

Our self-perception and internal narrative have a profound impact on our lives. If we genuinely want to change ourselves, we need to take a step back and examine our thoughts, actions, beliefs, and reactions to triggers. By questioning the validity of these elements, we can start to shape a narrative that aligns with our goals and aspirations. Our internal narrative acts as a compass, guiding us in the direction we take in life. As humans, we are natural meaning-making creatures, constantly interpreting events and experiences through our own lenses. It is essential to be mindful of the meaning we create, as it can often be influenced by past experiences and biases. By understanding the power of our internal narrative, we can gain better control over our perceptions and shape a more positive and empowering outlook on life. An example of this is when a mother perceived her daughter's property as her secondary home, creating a meaning around her role and attachment to the space.

    • The Impact of Past Experiences on Feeling InvisibleChallenging internal narratives is crucial to recognizing distorted perceptions and finding ways to feel valued and significant in our relationships.

The perception of feeling invisible and unimportant can stem from past experiences and internal narratives. The mother in the conversation expressed her feelings of insignificance when she saw her belongings being put away in a closet. This made her believe that her daughter and grandchildren were pushing her away. However, the daughter's intention was to protect the mother's belongings from getting broken. The mother's narrative of not mattering, which originated from childhood, influenced her perception of the situation. This conversation highlights the importance of recognizing and challenging these internal narratives that can distort our understanding of reality. By unraveling these narratives, individuals can begin to realize that these beliefs are not necessarily true and can find ways to feel valued and significant.

    • Shattering Narratives: How Our Beliefs Shape RealityOur perception of reality is often shaped by our own stories and beliefs. By questioning and challenging these narratives, we can uncover the truth and free ourselves from false perceptions.

Our perception of reality is shaped by our own beliefs and internal narrative. The mother in the story felt unimportant and invisible when her belongings were moved, but once her daughter explained the true reason behind it, her narrative was shattered. The daughter's perspective helped the mother see the situation in a different light and understand that she did matter to her family. This highlights the fact that we often filter the world through our own stories and make meaning out of them, even if they are not based on truth. To overcome this, we can use self-perception theory and introspection to question our beliefs and challenge our narratives. By asking ourselves critical questions, we can unveil the false narratives we create and realize that they hold no real basis.

    • Shaping Our Perception Through Self-Awareness and ReflectionBy consciously observing and reflecting on our thoughts, beliefs, and actions, we can develop self-awareness, change our perspective, and overcome limiting beliefs to create empowering personal narratives.

Our perception of the world is shaped by our own thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes. By consciously observing our surroundings and reflecting on our emotions, actions, and beliefs, we can develop self-awareness and resolve inner conflicts. This process involves asking ourselves questions like "Why am I feeling this way?" and "What does this say about my beliefs and attitudes?" Through mindful observation and cognitive reframing, we can change our perspective and destroy limiting beliefs. Additionally, seeking feedback from others can provide valuable insights and help us further refine our self-perception. By practicing these techniques, we can create empowering personal narratives and overcome obstacles that hold us back.

    • The Power of Seeking Trusted FeedbackQuestioning everything about yourself and seeking feedback from trusted individuals can lead to personal growth, freedom from false narratives, and unlocking your full potential.

Seeking feedback from trusted individuals can provide valuable perspectives that can help you see yourself in a different light. It may be uncomfortable to ask others about yourself, but when you approach people who you trust, love, and know have your best interests at heart, you can start to build yourself up and form a new belief pattern. One important aspect is to question everything about yourself - your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, actions, and the stories in your head. By doing so, you can experience more freedom and calm in your life, as you realize that you are not tied to false narratives. Additionally, this practice helps you work through triggers more quickly, leading to a transformation in your beliefs and unlocking your full potential.

How To Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind

How To Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind

Today, I'm exploring how our early experiences and surroundings shape who we become—and more importantly—how we can rewrite those scripts to create the life we truly want. Think of our minds like super-complex computers; they run on programs we pick up from childhood onward. These programs influence everything from our behaviors to how we think about ourselves and the world.

From the moment we're born, we're soaking up information like sponges. It's fascinating to see how much of what we learn comes from observing those around us, especially during those crucial early years. I'll be sharing insights on how to uncover these subconscious programs, challenge them, and ultimately, rewrite them to align with your goals and dreams. If you're ready to take charge of your programming and steer your life in a new direction, this episode is for you!

    127. Can we be too self aware?

    127. Can we be too self aware?

This is a question I have been asking myself a lot recently as someone who is VERY invested in the self-help space. Have we reached a point where we are too aware of our problems, faults, thoughts, actions and behaviours? Self awareness can free us from so many mental restrictions, it allows us to make better decisions, be a better friend, a better person, invest in our dreams and values. But at some point, we can reach a stage where we are too invested in self-reflection and introspection that it interrupts our enjoyment of the moment, can isolate us or even result in obsessive overthinking and rumination. In this episode we explore what it means to be self-aware and how online self help content might be causing us more harm than good. Listen now.

    Reprogram Your Identity

    Reprogram Your Identity

In today’s episode, we’re diving deep into something that I am super passionate about - the power of identity and how it shapes our interactions with the world.

Did you know that the personality traits we think are fixed, are actually more like a character we play, similar to a mask worn in Greek theater? That's right, even the concept of "personality" comes from the word "persona," which means mask!

Today, we're going to unpack the "dirty shirts" - those old identities and beliefs we were handed as kids, which we might still be wearing without even realizing it. Remember, these aren’t really us!

My first book that I’ve ever written is now available.

It’s called LEVEL UP and It’s a step-by-step guide to go from where you are now, to where you want to be as fast as possible.
