    About this Episode

#060 - In this episode, we are talking about a question that so many of us ask ourselves but often never really answer.

Who Am I? Why Am I Here? Where Do I Fit In?

These are big questions. We go out into the world to try to figure it out. How many years have been spent trying to find ourselves? Understand who we are?

Why is this so hard?  I have a theory that it is because we don’t know what questions to ask ourselves about our purpose. When you don’t know the question, how can you expect to receive an answer?

My guest today is Joe Elliott, who is the founder and executive director of the Catalyst Collective and the Purpose Project which helps people answer these questions for themselves.

They have created a shortcut to help you figure it out rather than spend years searching for meaning and purpose. It is an adrenaline shot of clarity and motivation!

Who wouldn’t love to avoid trial and error, floundering and struggle?

Are you intrigued? I certainly was!

I am very excited to share this interview with you about this really important topic.

HTL 106: How To Use YouTube for Business, with Itai Nusbaum

We are continuing on talking about business. If you have your own business or want to start one, even as a side hustle, everyone could use a little support.

Today’s topic is about using YouTube for your business.

HTL 105: How To Network and Get Your Foot In The Door, with MV Braverman

HTL 105: How To Network and Get Your Foot In The Door, with MV Braverman

You are about to hear an interview with MV Braverman who is here to talk about how to reach out to someone you don’t know and…ask. You know, “the ask”.

Whether it is a sales call, or you would like to inquire about working for them, or working for their company, making a “cold-call” can be an unpleasant and intimidating situation.

But it is a tactic that is still used today by many companies to try to get leads or sales, so it does still work.

How, though? The key is finding out how to get your foot in the door.

There are things you can do, and steps you can take, to make this process more successful for you and less threatening to the stranger you are trying to engage with.

This is Networking 101 with MV Braverman. You will probably find a little gem in this interview that will help you out.

HTL 103: How To Know When It's Time To Switch Jobs, with Jeremy Cline

HTL 103: How To Know When It's Time To Switch Jobs, with Jeremy Cline

How do you know when it is time to switch jobs?

Have you ever asked yourself this question?

Today we are talking about job satisfaction.

Not so long ago, the way people approached their jobs was often... stoically.

They had a job, it provided sustenance, and that is just what they did every day for 40 years whether they liked it or not.

These days, that attitude has changed. And perhaps it is because it is so much more possible to work for yourself with all that the internet can provide for you. Finding jobs is easier. All sorts of creative jobs are possible.

But even so, there is still the mindset of settling for less than what you want or accepting dissatisfaction because of fear or apathy.

Or confusion; just not knowing how to go about it.

I would like to bring a little clarity about this topic:  How To Know When It Is Time To Switch Jobs.

Today, I am speaking with attorney-turned-career coach, Jeremy Cline.

He is the host of the podcast, Change Work Life, and he coaches clients on how to do just that.

If you are feeling that it might be time for a change, this episode will help you identify the signs and give you the guidance to do it.

HTL 102: How To Make Friends and Socialize Better, with Tony Bacigalupo

HTL 102: How To Make Friends and Socialize Better, with Tony Bacigalupo

Today, Tony Bacigalupo is my guest and he and I will be talking about how to make friends and socialize better.

Tony is a master at bringing people together. He started Manhanten's first co-working space and discovered how fun it is to bring people together and watch how friends and relationships are created.

He has been helping people start co-working communities all over the world since 2007.

Do you feel you have sort of lost your groove? You are not alone!

It is true that we have recently emerged from quarantine and for sure there is this thing that some people have called the loneliness epidemic.

And that it is a major problem affecting a lot of people in the world right now.

We feel lonely because we think we don't have friends or a great support group.

So how do we break out of that shadow and start being social? Either again or for the first time?

Tony is here to offer some things that he has learned and done himself, to help kind of break down the barriers that make it difficult for us to find our people.

HTL 101: It is Okay to take a Break!

HTL 101: It is Okay to take a Break!

In the last podcast I published, Episode 100, I told you that I would be taking a break. And at the time I said it would be two or three weeks.

Well, that has turned into three months, but I needed it. So this episode, Episode 101 of the HOW TO LIFE podcast is called, It Is Okay To Take A Break. And it is. Sometimes you need it.

What happens if you don't allow yourself that time? Something's going to happen where you will be forced to take a break.

So I want to kind of give you some guidance on how to avoid that, how to get out in front of it, and how to recharge so that you can put your best foot forward in the future.

For me, it was the last three years of taking on too much and pushing a little too hard. It was a good reminder for me and I can now teach you about it.

I'm at a point in my life where I am pretty in tune with my body. I know what works for me. I know what happens if I don't listen to it.

I want to share with you some signs that it might be time for you to take a break.

I would like to alleviate some of the fears and reasons people give as excuses not to take a break.

We will talk about all the good things that DO happen when you take a break and some ideas to help you maximize your downtime.

It's not a sign of weakness to take a break. It's actually very smart and it takes strength to do it. And once you start doing it and start recognizing the benefits of it, you will never settle for less again.
