    The Console Wars

    The Console Wars
As the gaming world continues to reckon with its new state of “buy now, think later,” we get a glimpse into what some of those thoughts are. Speaking with Brazilian regulators, PlayStation holds nothing back when talking about its views on rival Xbox’s purchase of Activision Blizzard. Perhaps needless to say, it isn’t happy. It’s very rare we get such a behind-the-scenes look at how a company feels about any given deal, and PlayStation’s sound bite was heard around the industry. Xbox wasted no time responding to their rival’s candor in kind. Buckle up because while the audiences of each platform are playing nice, for the most part, the people running the show clearly have no love for one another. To no one’s surprise, a new GTA is well in development. But to everyone’s surprise, it will star a female lead for the first time in its modern 3D era. And, if these rumors are to be believed, it’ll be less low brow with its comedy. Can a GTA game hit just as hard without punching down? Will it be able to reach the staggering heights of GTA V? We’ve got a Bungie event on the horizon, God of War gets one of the greatest rip-offs of all time, and we hear about Juarez’s thoughts on the Uncharted movie. But Wait, There's More!!! (E3 2022)

    But Wait, There's More!!! (E3 2022)
They came and went in a flash, but 2022’s E3-less summer gaming showcases are now behind us. As the dust settles, and the gaming industry sets into its summer lull, we look back on one of the season’s biggest events: Xbox and Bethesda Showcase. With much to prove during their first outing post potential merger, team green and team RPG factory had some tricks up their sleeves. For Xbox’s part, the promise of nearly all titles coming to Gamepass loomed largely, and their “one more thing” moment included the legendary Hideo Kojima. Bethesda, on the other hand, wasted no time by showing off its newest coop shooter Redfall, with an impressive early build promising the same fan-favorite gameplay well known from Arkane Studio. The show ended with Tod Howard (his brown boots and jacket included). We were given an extended first taste of the gameplay and systems of their newest title Starfield. But what did we think about the minutes-long demo of “Fallout In Space?” How was the showcase overall? Is an E3-less summer worth living? All New All Different
After much speculation, Sony’s revamped PlayStation Service has been revealed. Long gone is the code name Sparticus and what we have left is simply…PlayStation Plus. But don’t let the name fool you, this service is all-new, mostly. With multiple options, a soft release window, and a handful of titles announced, we dig into PlayStation’s newest offerings for current and legacy generation games in their updated subscription model. Some time ago an action RPG set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter was leaked. Finally, after much anticipation, we have seen real gameplay; approximately twelve minutes worth. Hogwarts Legacy dazzled fans during its proper reveal by PlayStation, which featured in a solo State of Play. We give our first impressions of the long-running franchise’s biggest game to date. You have all asked for it and Fortnite has finally granted your wish; you no longer have to build. Simply dubbed “Zero Build”, the world’s most popular battle royale is reaching new heights by staying on the ground. Will this get us playing again? Most assuredly not, but we weigh in anyway. Gaming's Guardians of the Galaxy
As the world watches from afar, the Ukrainian people continue to fight for their lives. Global sanctions and support have been pouring in to help the sovereign nation, as this one-sided war continues unabated. Luckily, some of tech and gaming’s biggest names have stepped forward to aid in the cause. We discuss their contributions to this very avoidable war. Continuing its fight for equality, the tech world is standing up to a new Texas directive. In a fight for equality, healthcare, and overall safety, some of the world's biggest companies are openly opposing new anti-trans legislation in the lone star state. And finally, we’ve got some great new games coming to Game Pass, with Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy being the headliner. One Pass to Rule Them All

One Pass to Rule Them All
In a once seemingly unthinkable turn of events, Microsoft is well on its way to acquiring Activision Blizzard King. The landmark deal is worth a reported 68.7 billion dollars, and while this first broke just over a month ago, the gaming industry is still reeling and receiving new information, as Phil Spencer and his team show more of their hand. Phil Spencer now sits at the top of Xbox as the CEO of gaming and doesn’t seem to be done with making more changes to expand team green. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, it should come as no surprise that Xbox’s all-important GamePass sits squarely in the middle of the gaming industry’s biggest acquisition to date. What will be on offer to more than 15 million subscribers? Will Call of Duty, undeniably ABK’s biggest franchise, stay on Playstation consoles? After much thought and reading, we do our best to parse through the biggest gaming news in recent history. Also, Sony and Playstation have made an acquisition of their own. Sony Interactive Entertainment has welcomed the world-renowned independent studio Bungie into its family. Yes, the same company that made the award-winning Halo series, and helped launch the original Xbox, is now owned by Playstation. While Destiny exclusivity might be the first thing to cross your mind, think again. Sony has a much longer game to play here, which includes leveraging Bungie’s community expertise and hopefully ushering in a new age of mixed media projects from its storied MMORPG lore. So sit back and chill with us, we’ve got a lot to go through on this week’s episode of Oblivious Games… RIGHT NOW!!!

    Spoiler Alert

    Spoiler Alert
This week sees the return of the Oblivious Games duo. What have we been up to during our time away? What have we been playing? Does Jaurez have a baby?! You’ll learn most of that information in our opening segment. Our first big news topic covers possible spoilers in PlayStation’s first big release of this year: Horizon Forbidden West. In the age of the internet, we live in an entirely inescapable world of spoilers, so what can we do about it? Unsurprisingly Juarez and I sit at opposite ends of this argument. Xbox is done making it’s last generation console, but PlayStation hasn’t called it quits on the PS4 just yet. With both manufacturers unable to keep their newest offerings on store shelves, who is taking the best tactic in regards to their respective customer base? Also, we try our best to answer the age-old question: console or pc gaming?! All that and more on this packed episode….RIGHT NOW! Music: Electric Mantis - Daybreak https://youtu.be/Lz68DccWZ4U

    E3 2021 Reactions

    E3 2021 Reactions
Last year’s E3 was a bit of a mess. And by mess, I mean, it was canceled because of the global pandemic and then everyone had their own solo events peppered throughout the summer without any rhyme, reason, or structure. Fast forward to 2021 and well… it’s still kinda of a mess…? But at least most of the shenanigans are in the window of a few days. Jaurez and I break down the first weekend of 2021’s all digital E3. First up, we cover Xbox dropping big news ahead of the show. They are committed to cloud services and want to go as far as our living room tv. Yes, straight to your tv without the need of a console. Is this a move? Will it work? We give our take on the outlook and our experiences so far with Xcloud Gaming. Geoff Keighley is back at it like a bad habit. No summer of games is complete without his hype and he did not disappoint. With the appearance of his BFF Kojima, some celebrities and Elden Ring, Summer Game Fest kicked off E3 properly. So which games stood out to us? And finally, but certainly not least, Xbox and Bethesda came out swinging. Following the record breaking acquisition, Tod Howard led the show off with Starfield, and Xbox/Bethesda kept the hits coming with easily the most well paced and expertly produced show of the entire weekend. Xbox has the games now, for sure, especially with it’s continued push for gamepass, but which of those games are speaking to us? Yes, Halo spoke to us. All that and more on this packed episode….RIGHT NOW! Music: Electric Mantis - Daybreak https://youtu.be/Lz68DccWZ4U
