From a very early age, my kids had basic responsibilities around the house. When they were two and four they were responsible for making their bed everyday, bringing their dish from the table to the sink (I washed and dried), putting away their own toys, and a variety of other tasks. I feel that one of the biggest challenges with parents and kids today is that in the early years, parents do everything for their children – then when they are 10 to 15yrs old they change the rules and can't understand why kids have so much resistance to helping out and taking responsibility for certain chores.
