Isaiah 40 is a great chapter to instruct believers in what they should declare about God and why they should declare it. Here are a few of the verses I highlight in the session.
In verse 8, God states that His word will never go away. This is the first reason we can be confident when we declare it. It will last forever so it is not a waste of our time. In verse 9 we are provoked to speak out loudly and with strength what we have been taught by God. Another reason {beyond just being commanded to} that God tells us to speak out His word is because He gives us wisdom that is hitherto hidden from the rest of the world. In verse 22 particularly, god told Isaiah that the world was round prior to the scientific discovery of that fact. As if God needed to provide more reasons why we should speak His word, in verse 26, He tells us that He calls us by name and that not one of His people is missing. This is important for several reasons one of which being that God will tell us whom to go speak His word to when because He knows their physical proximity to us.
When we decide to honor God and speak to whom and when He instructs, we can be sure that we will have all of the information and insight we need. Verse 28 avers that the Wisdom of God is unsearchable. This means that we don’t have to search very hard to find God’s wisdom to answer a persons’ questions, to minister to their needs, or to give them wisdom for their lives.
This type of conversation empowers both the speaker and the listener.- This is discussed in verse 29. Finally, when we speak out the word sometimes we grow faint and weary because of the lack of response or manifestation in people’s lives. Verse 31 assures us that if we begin to experience that, we can renew our strength by relying on the promise of god to renew our strength.
As well, I did discuss two ways in which I utilize both verses 29 and verse 31 for physical strength and rejuvenation.
