Isaiah 43:1-2, 7, 10, 18-20, 26 NKJV
1 But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called [you] by your name; You [are] Mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I [will be] with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. ... 7 Everyone who is called by My name, Whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him." ... 10 "You [are] My witnesses," says the LORD, "And My servant whom I have chosen, That you may know and believe Me, And understand that I [am] He. Before Me there was no God formed, Nor shall there be after Me. ... 18 "Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness [And] rivers in the desert. 20 The beast of the field will honor Me, The jackals and the ostriches, Because I give waters in the wilderness [And] rivers in the desert, To give drink to My people, My chosen. ... 26 Put Me in remembrance; Let us contend together; State your [case], that you may be acquitted.
This chapter of Isaiah makes a few things abundantly clear:
1. God calls us by our names
2. We are redeemed so we don’t have to be afraid of anything
3. The river and the fire- though they come, will not over take us or consume us.
4. God wants us so close to Him that we are open to and recognize when He is doing a new thing and to identify that new thing He is doing
5. God wants to acquit us because Jesus became our payment for wrong done
