John Patrick Shanley is a playwright, screenwriter, and director. His play, Doubt: A Parable, won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2005 Tony Award for Best Play. He won the 1988 Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the film Moonstruck. He wrote and directed the film version of Doubt, as well as Joe Versus the Volcano and Wild Mountain Thyme. Other works include Live from Baghdad, Alive, Five Corners, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, Italian American Reconciliation, Savage in Limbo, The Portuguese Kid and The January Man.
