Information evaluation: In the information age, it's crucial to critically evaluate sources by understanding funders, biases, and reliability. Labor Day offers opportunities to learn and celebrate the movement with WPFW's special programming and historical milestones.
In today's information age, it's more important than ever to critically evaluate the sources of the information we consume. This includes understanding who's funding it, what biases they might have, and being able to assess the reliability of the information. For labor enthusiasts, there are several opportunities to learn more and celebrate the movement this coming Labor Day. Tune in to WPFW's annual Labor Day special on Monday, September 2nd, featuring Doug Rind's Work, Resistance, and Hip Hop from 9 to 11 AM, followed by an expanded edition of the Labor Heritage Power Hour. Later in the day, the Decipher Collective will take over the airwaves until midnight with hip-hop reflecting the realities of work. A historical highlight for this day comes from 1996 when dancers at San Francisco's Lusty Lady Club unionized and ratified their first contract eight months later. These workers, like many others, recognized their worth as workers and their right to be treated with respect. The Labor Radio Podcast daily is supported by Union Plus, and you can learn more about their offerings at unionplus.org. Stay informed and engaged with the labor movement by tuning in to these programs and evaluating the sources of your information.
