    About this Episode

To honor and celebrate Black History Month, Jody and Rachel chose to read and discuss a book by Jason Reynolds called Stamped: Racism, Anti-Racism, and You. Don’t worry, it’s okay if you did not read the book. The discussion will be relevant either way.

To be honest, this discussion pushed us out of our comfort zones, but we know that having these conversations is one of the most important ways we can take personal responsibility for raising awareness and making a difference.

In this episode, we examine our own thoughts, our own behaviors, and even our own language to learn and evolve and move closer to becoming anti-racist. Please join us.

FLOWER POWER! New artwork, more co-hosts, and why women are like flowers

In today’s episode, we are announcing some changes to the podcast moving forward, along with some exciting new opportunities for listeners to get more involved.

You’ll also want to stay tuned to learn more about some fabulous women who will become recurring guest co-hosts. Rachel shares brief interviews with four women who will join the co-host rotation: Terri, Kirsten, Beth, and Jacci.

Together, we want to cultivate a community where women can bloom and grow. We want to tap into our innate FLOWER POWER, if you will.

    Flowers (like women):
     - Need both RAIN and SUNSHINE to grow and thrive.
     - Are unique. In fact, their beauty is rooted in their variety.
     - Bloom to become the full expression of themselves.
     - Serve a variety of purposes (expressing love, providing comfort, offering congratulations and celebration, or no purpose at all -- we enjoy them for just existing)
     - Can bloom anywhere under all kinds of conditions, from a carefully tended garden to growing wild in a field to peeking through the cracks of a sidewalk.
     - Are better together. As a group, we contribute to the entire bouquet.

We invite you to join us in The Sisterhood!

Miscarriage and Motherhood: Grieving, Honoring, and Healing Together

For some people, the path to parenthood doesn’t go as planned. In fact, roughly 20 percent of all pregnancies end in miscarriage.

In today’s episode, we discuss miscarriage, infertility, and mental health with author Kirsten Hopfensperger. Her book of poetry entitled "Rearranged" explores her personal journey to motherhood, including celebration, grief, isolation, depression, authentic support, and healing.

Despite this weighty and difficult subject matter, Kirsten's book -- and our conversation -- are both beautiful and inspirational.

If you happen to be part of this sisterhood – or love and support someone else who is dealing with these issues – then we want you to know…you are not alone. We’ve got you.

How are you spending your minutes to maximize your special moments in life? And what defines a special moment?

In this episode, we update you on the lessons we are learning based on the words/themes we chose at the beginning of the year in Episode 34, called Believe It’s Possible.

We were pretty surprised by how transformative this intentional focus has been for both of us already so early in the process.

Show Some RESPECT: 10 Ways to Bring Back Kindness

It feels like respectful discourse has kind of disappeared in today’s world. What would happen if we could bring it back?

We decided to explore the idea of SHOWING respect, and that when we BEHAVE with respect, it often elicits a better response!

In this episode, we discuss 10 ways our parents taught us to show respect to others and to ourselves and the surprising benefits of living respectfully.

Enjoy sage advice like "keep your fingers out of the pickle jar," and "Yabbit? What's a yabbit?" or one of our mom's favorites: "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."

Believe It's Possible: Breaking Down the Boundaries You Set for Yourself

Believe It's Possible: Breaking Down the Boundaries You Set for Yourself

In order to make progress on anything, you FIRST have to believe it’s possible. That may sound simple, but in truth, many of us put subconscious limits or boundaries on what we think is possible for ourselves.

We create a life based on what we expect will happen…what we believe is within reach.

In this episode, we start by sharing what we learned from the words and themes we chose last year instead of making a New Year’s Resolution, and we declare new words for the coming year.

But we also examine ways to recognize limiting thoughts and create a life beyond your expectations!
