Lynne and Brian Striar are a power canna-couple and pioneers in the Massachusetts cannabis industry. They speak with Joyce at their imaginative and comfortable art gallery in Sharon, Massachusetts, The Broccoli Gallery. Lynne and Brian have been vested in normalizing cannabis use following a family member’s cancer death in 2010, and this powerful canna why has carried them through a long journey from patients to canna-cultivators.

Their founding business, Four Daughters Compassionate Care, was dedicated to healing their community. This dispensary was acquired by Verano Partnership and is now the Zen Leaf dispensary in Sharon, Massachusetts. They continue on their mission and vision with their newest venture Kapnos Cannabis. Joyce also speaks with Thomas, Kapnos head cultivator, about his vision for the plants he’s growing.

Lynne and Brian are role models for the emerging industry as mentors to social equity businesses, mission driven and their story is not just a love story for each other but a story about the love of cannabis to heal and connect community.

Arana Hankin-Biggers Standing Up for The Legal Market In New York

Arana Hankin-Biggers speaks with Joyce about envisioning and building The Travel Agency (formerly the Union Square Travel Agency) a cannabis store in New York City. Prior to jumping into the emerging cannabis industry, Arana was involved with one of New York’s most scandalous political episodes as well as dabbling in New York real estate. In addition, she has a very interesting family history connected to liquor prohibition that has parallels to ending cannabis prohibition. This includes her role in reversing the decades of harm on communities of color. Arana is especially passionate about using her voice to attract and support women into cannabis and the Travel Agency highlights women made products. She is also the canna mom of two.

Lisa Mauriello’s Paper Crane Canna Romance

Lisa Mauriello is the wife of the husband-and-wife team that founded Paper Crane Cannabis in Hubbardston, Massachusetts. Lisa and her husband Boey were both participants in Massachusetts’ first Social Equity Program, a program designed to offer training and benefits to those disproportionately impacted by the War on Drugs.

Their cultivation cannabis business is harnessing the great powers of nature and the knowledge that comes with decades of legacy cannabis experience, as Paper Crane grows terpene-rich organic flower that is deeply rooted in both sustainability and social justice.

Joyce is a big fan of Paper Crane Cannabis, which was first introduced to her at the Bong-and-Pong event last spring hosted by friends of the show at Stem Cannabis in Haverhill. Joyce speaks with Lisa about the products Paper Crane is creating, her real life canna romance, and all the ways she is adding value to our Massachusetts Cannabis Community.

    Culture Corner

This week Joyce talks about the cannabis romance she’s authored –She’s Taking A Break.

When Annie McGrath returns to her home in Cambridge, Massachusetts, after being on the road with her husband’s band for twenty years, she moves back into her childhood bedroom to figure out how things in her life went so terribly wrong.

Dottie McGrath welcomes Annie home and is happy to have someone else in the house besides her ailing husband. And when Annie seeks a compassionate listener in Father Lorenzo - her next-door neighbor and childhood best friend – in the confessional, the threads of Annie’s life begins to unfurl.

Annie is a habitual cannabis consumer and throughout the story cannabis is normalized and accepted along with the unfolding story of Annie’s secrets, to upend the stigmas that have been created around cannabis use.

Lynne and Brian Striar - A Canna Love Story

Lynne and Brian Striar - A Canna Love Story
