Tonight we conclude our conversation on the hiring of more black coaches in the major leagues such as NFL, NBA, and also collegiate sports. What can we do to convince owners to hire more black leaderships? Also a bigger question is, should black people be aiming hire such as perhaps owning a team or league? To answer these questions and more, we draw reference from minds such as Ice Cube the author of "Contract With Black America" and also the founder of his very own BIG 3 Basketball League. We also draw reference from The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport (TIDES) serves as a comprehensive resource for issues related to gender and race in amateur, collegiate and professional sports and the media. The Institute researches and publishes a variety of studies, including annual studies of student-athlete graduation rates and racial attitudes in sports, as well as the internationally recognized Racial and Gender Report Card, an assessment of racial and gender hiring practices in amateur, collegiate and professional sports and the media. The Institute also monitors some of the critical ethical issues in college and professional sport, including the potential for exploitation of student-athletes, gambling, performance-enhancing drugs and violence in sport. TIDES provides consulting services on racial and gender hiring practices including researching and creating Racial and Gender Report Cards for individual sports teams, leagues, conferences and other organizations seeking our support. We hope this pair of episodes are both entertaining and informative for you all.
