    About this Episode

This is the debut episode of RIGHT CHOICES. My professional journey has been in the making for nearly 20 years, coaching and training men, women, and youth. As the host of this show, I want to guide you beyond emotional and physical barriers. The awareness we gain from our limitations to exercise does not have to be so taxing that it paralyzes us from action. Knowing how to get started and staying motivated is essential, and combined with sound training principles, we can improve our ability to engage in activities that are meaningful to us while extending our time to enjoy life. Our journey together begins with knowing what, why, and how you want to accomplish your goals.

Let em play, just the same!
At times our society is faced with a merge between social injustices and political rights in sports. Sports allows us to look within and gain awareness with inequalities we have regarding race, gender, or religion. We have seen the historic images: Jackie Robinson being the first Black man called up to play in Major League Baseball, Jessie Owens dominating Track & Field at the Berlin Olympic Games, or Billie Jean King dominance in Tennis. However, those actions were not enacted by our government. There was a lack of opportunity given to a large faction in our nation, where fifty-one percent of our population was not allowed to participate in competitive sports activities inter-collegiately. Imagine telling a child they cannot participate, even though they are skilled, love the game, and all because they were a girl no a woman. Listen in this Saturday from 11am - 12pm PST to hear the impact regarding physical activity not only in sports but also in fitness and exercise for women.

Understanding roles and responsibilities as parents, adults and coaches to promote healthier lifestyles to our youth
“America's future will be determined by the home and the school. The child becomes largely what he is taught; hence we must watch what we teach, and how we live. Jane Addams Physical inactivity crosses all demographics: socioeconomic, ethnicity, and even age. In fact, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) reports that 16% of children and adolescents are overweight or obese. There's a correlation between the diminished utilization of physical education classes in schools and the increase of obesity among our youth, which is one of the biggest challenges Kinesiologists face today. It is imperative as adults that we promote greater access for our youth to participate in extracurricular activities that they will learn and gain through adulthood.
