We are called to be a people who bring peace to the earth - but peace is more than simply 'making nice' or ensuring everyone is doing the 'right' thing.
Becoming peacemakers means following the example of Jesus who spoke out to expose what wasn't in alignment with love, mercy and humility.
At the same time, Jesus invited people to wholeness by reminding them of their core identity, who they were created to be as free sons and daughters.
Peacemaking for us is an action that must take place in community. As we come together to have challenging conversations, we bring mutual benefit to each other.
A gentle abrasion happens in life-giving conversation where the desire is for wholeness and restoration - this can happen when we get honest, but with humility and grace.
Together we smooth our sharp edges by living this way and we become a people who bring Glory to God in the way we love (in the hard stuff) and continue to grow mature in Christ and community, as we commit to becoming deeply formed disciples of Jesus.
"...never let ugly or hateful words come from your mouth, but instead let your words become beautiful gifts that encourage others; do this by speaking words of grace to help them." Ephesians 4:29 TPT

The Steeple Church Podcast is recorded on Wurundjeri land in the east suburbs of Naarm - that you will find on a map as Balwyn in Melbourne, Australia.
We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of these lands, the Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation and we pay our respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.
