NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS... OR NOT!
About this Episode
No, we don’t make resolutions.
The gang talks about why they don’t make promises to themselves they can’t keep.
Each of our individual, personal sober dates, the day we got clean, is the day we celebrate. We also venture into dreaming of using, or for most of us, dreaming about reaching for, but not quite getting, our substance of choice.
One of us actually uses in his dreams and wakes up with the same guilt and shame he once felt, as if it was real.

Harm Reduction and Hungry Ghosts:
Needle exchanges and empathy. Two of the most important subjects that came up today, along with the media’s always negative portrayal of people with addictions.
If you think all addicts are living in parks and begging for change, think again.
We give a shout out to Betty Ford, who helped bring addiction to the forefront by making public her own struggles with alcohol and prescription drugs back in 1982.
And of course Frankie tells us all about his iron pumping one-month old baby!

RFL UNCUT Living In The Moment
We Have Now, This Moment, Not Yesterday, Not Tomorrow
Lots going on today with the holidays bringing hope along with anxiety and tension. The group addresses family—good, bad and everything in between. Personal boundaries come into the conversation. We also talk about the power of creative writing, how we can organize our thoughts, and, when it’s not too scary, share them openly. Stephen talks about a letter he wrote to his mother that she’ll never see. Audrey shares her thoughts about writing and poetry with the group. We discuss how fleeting thoughts can be and the importance of capturing them on paper before they get away.
