As millennials and first-generation immigrants from the Philippines, our experiences and perspectives on money have unique similarities and differences. 

If you've seen or listened to our episodes on season 1, you'll know our stories as children who were left behind by our parents while they work abroad to support us. How did that influence our outlook on money and on life in general?

The All Abroad Podcast gals get a little serious about money because we want to inspire other people to get savvy with their financial situations. Most Filipinos get a little squirmy when talking about money but we have to change that. We have to be more open to discussing the best ways we should invest our money.

The first step to improving assertiveness is understanding why we aren't assertive in the first place.

Dr. Abby's dissertation during her Doctorate Degree in Psychology was focused on studying Filipinos' behavior regarding assertiveness. "The higher the traditional values, the lower the assertiveness..."

Dr. Abby also shared her tips on raising assertive but respectful children. 

Dr. Abby is a TEDx speaker and we are super proud of her using mainstream platforms to help others become more assertive, especially our fellow Filipinos (kababayans).

What does breaking the bias mean to you as a woman? 

In this episode, we talked about how we are all working and aiming to break biases against women with our special guest, Tessa Albea, from the One Down Media and Kumu USA team.

We also talked about our struggles with setting boundaries. We shared vulnerable stories about the times we failed to set boundaries and the times when we succeeded. We also shared times when other people set boundaries on us! :)

She is a proud trans immigrant and first-generation college graduate born and raised in Metro Manila, Philippines and is now based in Los Angeles, California, USA.

2021 was still challenging and we are hoping for a better 2022. We just want to travel, and looking forward to a mask-less life and Joy's got "damoves" (the moves) to make it all go away! lol!
