    About this Episode

I am a consultant specializing in India. In my first podcast about India I will give a brief overview about culture of India especially geared towards business etiquette in India. India is officially called the Republic of India (Bharat Ganrajya). It has over 1.2 billion people. The culture of India depicts the way of life of people of India. India has a diverse culture differing from each state of India. There are 28 states and 7 union territories in India. The first official language of India is Hindi and the second is English. Most of the population in metro cities speak English .To greet each other people say Namaste meaning "salutations to you. In business etiquette of India lunches are very popular. Lunches can be hosted either at home or hotels. Men rarely wear suits as the weather is hot. Ladies usually wear sarees or kurti and pants. if the Indian lady wants to shake hands then only do that. Ideal month to visit India is between October and Feburary. Most delegations to India are visiting during the month of October-November. Indians love to invite their business associates in weddings in their family. Make it a point to attend but if couldnot attend send them a card and flowers and if possible a present.
