IT AIN'T NO GAME BUT I WANT AN AWARD - 2023 Game Awards Discussion

IT AIN'T NO GAME BUT I WANT AN AWARD - 2023 Game Awards Discussion

Some of the biggest nights for entertainment have always been award shows. When the Oscars or the Grammy’s happen you always hear tons of people from the mainstream media, news outlets, your mother talk about it. It seems unavoidable after it happens. So, music and film have always had a level of respect, something that is still trying to break into a level of respect like these forms of entertainment are video games.

The Game Awards are an award show hosted by Geoff Keighley and it has been going on since December 5th 2014. The game awards are an award show focused on rewarding and appreciating some of the best video games and creators in the industry. It’s streamed on an insane number of platforms throughout the internet being YouTube, Twitch, Steam, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, Kick, Facebook Live, etc.

In this episode I'm joined by Mallory Webster, whose been playing various games with me since elementary school and we developed a tradition of watching the yearly game awards with each other and having fun talking about our personal takes and opinions.

If you want to hear some insightful takes and predictions for the 2023 game awards! Maybe the Street Fighter modern controls or the billion dollar-brilliance of the Mario movie, you're in the right place.

The Silly, The Satire, And The Sincere (Featuring Evan Ostrowalker)

The Silly, The Satire, And The Sincere (Featuring Evan Ostrowalker)

The internet is no stranger to humorous and strange music. Maybe you love those funny Rhett and Link videos about a robot fixing all of humanities problems with bacon, or maybe you like the one about a Duck going to a lemonade stand everyday and asking the man behind the counter for grapes. One thing is for sure this style of satirical music has placed a permanent spot in internet culture.

Evan my guest makes electronic music under the Ostrowalker name on Spotify and decided to make a parody brand of Hyperpop under the name "Gyko" basically being non sensical internet interferences and samples and high pitched and aggressive lyrics about death and being angry. Evan also has a brand of music under the fishfashfood label that focuses with more wacky and silly ideas, the music is original but the ideas are sillier and wackier like ideas you would see in most song parodies. Songs under the fishfashfood label would be music about “milk, a song about a dislike of politics, and somebody that spends all day on Twitch looking for hot tub streamers, and the list goes on”

Join me and Evan Ostrowalker as we dive deep into the Popping Point that is satirical songs and why that line between serious and silly can sometimes be very thin!

Music used in this episode are by Ostrowalker! Check out their Spotify @Ostrowalker

Sometimes the game you’re playing is too tense and serious you just want to play another game but you don’t feel like quitting the game you’re playing. The Yakuza franchise is the king of having other things to do and play in terms of distracting yourself with shiny objects.
