Responding to Media's Latest Lie & Biden's Corruption | Rudy Giuliani | POLITICS | Rubin Report

    enJuly 27, 2023

    Podcast Summary

    • Giuliani clarifies misconceptions about stipulations in legal proceedingsMaking a stipulation in a case doesn't mean admitting a lie, it's a common legal tactic to save time and resources.

During a conversation on The Rubin Report, Rudy Giuliani clarified the recent legal proceedings regarding his alleged false statements about ballot counting in Atlanta. He explained that making a stipulation in a case, which is conceding a point for the sake of the trial, does not equate to an admission of lying. This legal tactic is common and can save time and resources in the courtroom. Giuliani emphasized that the media often misrepresents such legal maneuvers and can create a distorted public perception. The conversation also touched upon the importance of rational political discourse and the need to separate fact from fiction in the media.

    • Giuliani focuses on getting case out of biased district, up to Supreme Court instead of contesting falsehoodsGiuliani prioritizes moving case to unbiased jurisdiction and potentially Supreme Court over contesting falsehoods, emphasizing importance of election integrity and First Amendment rights.

During a legal dispute, Rudy Giuliani made a strategic decision not to contest the falsehood of certain statements made against him, focusing instead on getting the case out of a biased district and potentially up to the Supreme Court. He believes this is an important case as it highlights censorship and potential infringement on First Amendment rights. Giuliani maintains that he did not admit to lying, but rather chose not to contest the specific issue in this case. He remains concerned about the integrity of elections, especially in states where elections are not as secure, and emphasizes the importance of the upcoming election for the future of America.

    • FBI withheld evidence contradicting Russian collusion allegationsThe FBI withheld validated evidence that could have challenged false narratives during the 2020 presidential campaign, raising concerns about information suppression and manipulation of public perception.

During the 2020 presidential campaign, the FBI withheld validated evidence from the public that could have contradicted allegations against Rudy Giuliani and President Trump regarding Russian collusion. This evidence involved a bribe allegedly paid to Joe Biden, which Giuliani had brought to light. The FBI's inaction allowed false narratives to persist during a national debate. Additionally, concerns were raised about collusion between Big Tech and the spreading of misinformation. Despite the challenges and misrepresentations, Giuliani remains committed to staying true to himself and uncovering the truth for the betterment of his country. The potential for manipulation of public perception and the suppression of information is a concerning issue.

    • Donald Trump's Resilience in Politics: A Testament to Unique Personality and Supporter LoyaltyDespite facing numerous attempts to bring him down, Donald Trump's unapologetic persona and loyal supporters keep him a formidable figure in American politics. Public perception and media can significantly impact individuals' careers, and Trump's transformation from a soft-spoken businessman to a more assertive political figure is a prime example.

Despite the numerous attempts to bring down Donald Trump, he continues to be a formidable figure in American politics. People, including those who have worked closely with him, have expressed surprise at his resilience. Some attribute this to his unapologetic persona, while others see him as an innocent man falsely accused. Regardless of one's perspective, it is clear that Trump's ability to weather political storms is a testament to his unique personality and the loyalty of his supporters. Moreover, the discussion touched upon the impact of public perception on individuals' careers. The speakers shared their experiences of being targeted and how it changed their public image. Trump's transformation from a soft-spoken businessman to a more assertive political figure was also mentioned as an example of how the media and public opinion can shape an individual's persona. Finally, the conversation highlighted the power of entertainment and its ability to launch careers. The speakers reminisced about Trump's appearances in popular media, such as Seinfeld and Saturday Night Live, and how these experiences would be unlikely for him today. Overall, the discussion provided insights into the complexities of politics, public perception, and the entertainment industry.

    • New York vs Florida: A Tale of Two PandemicsA proactive approach to dealing with disorder can prevent riots and protect innocent people and property.

The speaker's experience of living in Florida versus New York during the pandemic has been starkly different. The speaker feels that New York was in a state of oppression, with strict rules and regulations, while Florida was more open and free. This contrast was particularly noticeable during the pandemic, with New Yorkers feeling like they were living under restrictive conditions reminiscent of East Berlin. The speaker, who was in New York City during the pandemic, started a podcast as a result of his experiences and observations. He believes that dealing with small acts of disorder early on can prevent riots, as opposed to letting them escalate. The speaker, who was a mayor who had prevented riots in the past, criticizes the approach taken during the pandemic, which involved not arresting individuals who were causing disorder early on. He argues that this approach only made the situation worse and resulted in significant property damage and loss of life. The speaker advocates for a more proactive approach to dealing with disorder to prevent riots and protect innocent people and their property.

    • Botched Marijuana Legalization in NYC Leads to Thriving Black MarketInefficient and ideologically rigid implementation of marijuana legalization in NYC led to a thriving black market filled with dangerous substances, resulting in an epidemic of drug use and related health risks.

New York City's botched implementation of marijuana legalization has led to a thriving black market, filled with dangerous substances like Fentanyl. This complex system, characterized by lengthy delays and ideological rigidity, allowed over a thousand illegal dispensaries to emerge before the eight legal ones could get off the ground. The failure to effectively manage this transition has resulted in an epidemic of drug use and related health risks, particularly for unsuspecting consumers. It's a cautionary tale for any city considering marijuana legalization, emphasizing the importance of efficient, well-planned implementation to prevent the emergence of dangerous black markets.

    • New York City's Complex Issue of Disorder and DeclineSignificant investment in enforcement and a cultural shift towards true New York values are needed to address NYC's disorder and decline. Change is possible, but it will be a long process.

New York City's current state of disorder and decline is a complex issue that requires significant investment in enforcement and a cultural shift towards true New York values. The speaker believes that there is still hope for change, as shown by recent political elections, but it will be a long and challenging process. The speaker expresses a personal sense of disappointment and hope when reflecting on the city's current state and the contrast between then and now. The speaker also draws a comparison to Chicago, highlighting the long-term effects of Democratic rule and the lack of accountability from progressive organizations like Black Lives Matter.

    • Giuliani Discusses His Appreciation and LeadershipGiuliani believes he's appreciated for creating jobs and improving lives, despite political divisions. He values leadership, disregards criticism, and expresses concerns over media censorship and inaccurate information.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani believes that despite the political divisions in America, especially regarding his support for Donald Trump, he continues to be appreciated by many people, particularly minorities, for his role in creating jobs and improving their lives. He expresses disappointment in the media's portrayal of events and their role in fueling ideological divisions. Giuliani also shares his belief that having the will to lead and disregarding the criticism of "know-it-alls" is essential for effective leadership. He highlights the issue of media censorship and the coordinated messaging during the impeachment proceedings, expressing concern over the accuracy and objectivity of the information being disseminated. Giuliani also shares an anecdote about Joe Biden's interaction with his son Hunter's business dealings, which he believes contradicts Biden's public statements.

    • Hunter Biden's business deals raise questions about President Biden's involvementHunter Biden's foreign business deals suggest potential corruption and conflicts of interest for President Biden, involving large sums of money from questionable sources and indications of a RICO case.

Hunter Biden's involvement in foreign business deals raises serious questions about potential corruption and conflicts of interest involving his father, President Joe Biden. The discussion suggests that Hunter received large sums of money from questionable sources, and there are indications of a pattern of financial transactions that could implicate both father and son in a RICO case. The speaker expresses disappointment and shock at Joe Biden's involvement in these deals and his apparent disregard for the well-being of his family. The speaker also notes the troubling aspects of Hunter's personal struggles with addiction and his association with criminal figures. Overall, the conversation underscores the need for transparency and accountability in government and the potential consequences of mixing business and politics.

    • Effective leadership in crisis: quick decisions, calm demeanorDuring crises, effective leaders make quick decisions, remain calm, and rely on prior planning and experience to guide their teams and communities through unexpected situations.

During times of crisis, effective leadership requires quick decision-making, instinct, and a calm demeanor, even when facing unprepared situations and immense pressure. Rudy Giuliani's experience during the 9/11 attacks demonstrates this, as he had to adapt to the unexpected terrorist attack and maintain confidence for the city, despite personal losses and the weight of the world watching him. His prior planning and experience proved valuable, even if not perfectly prepared, and his focus and calmness helped guide New York City through the chaos.

    • Remarkable courage and camaraderie of crisis respondersThe speaker shares personal experiences of friends' sacrifices, prioritizing safety over personal risk, and inspiring unity and determination during crisis.

The individuals who put their lives on the line during times of crisis, such as firefighters and police officers, exhibit remarkable courage and camaraderie. The speaker, a mayor, shared his personal experiences and the sacrifices made by his close friends and colleagues during a tragic event. Despite the loss of life and the potential consequences for himself, the mayor's priority was ensuring the safety of others and upholding the standard of courage and selflessness displayed by these heroes. The tragedy, while a great one, also elevated the feeling of unity and determination among the city's residents, inspiring the mayor to continue his efforts to make a difference and protect his country. The speaker's unwavering commitment to helping others, even in the face of adversity, serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of courage, camaraderie, and selflessness in times of crisis.

Ep307 - Anand Giridharadas | Winners Take All

Ep307 - Anand Giridharadas | Winners Take All

Anand Giridharadas visits Google to discuss his book "Winners Take All: The Elite Charade of Changing the World."

Anand Giridharadas takes us into the inner sanctums of a new gilded age, where the rich and powerful fight for equality and justice any way they can—except ways that threaten the social order and their position atop it. The book argues that elites rebrand themselves as saviors of the poor; that they lavishly reward so-called thought leaders who redefine “change” in ways that preserve the status quo; and that they constantly seek to do more good, but never less harm.

Giridharadas asks hard questions: for example, why should our gravest problems be solved by the unelected upper crust instead of the public institutions eroded by lobbying and tax dodging? His groundbreaking investigation has already forced a great, sorely needed reckoning among the world’s wealthiest and those they hover above, and it points toward an answer: Rather than rely on scraps from the winners, we must take on the grueling democratic work of building more robust, egalitarian institutions.
