Resurrection Life w/ Daniel Rogers

What does the resurrection mean for us today? How do we know we have passed from death to life?

These questions, and more, will be pondered in tonight's episode.

In 2 Peter 3, Peter says that his audience had escaped the corruption that is in the world and taken on the divine nature according to the promises of God. He also says, in verse 11, that they would have a glorious entrance into the kigndom of God.


This glorious entrance and transformation from corruption to the divine nature is precisely what Paul is discussing in 1 Corinthians 15. It is a transformation, not of body to spirit, but of the fleshly world to the heavenly world in Christ.

Welcome Daniel Rogers as Guest Host who will join the discussion. Tonight Two Guys and A Bible will continue the last half of the Spirit and Life Recap from last week. This was a great event and we wanted to share more information from the event and on the Speakers for the benefit of our audience. We discussed the Book of Revelation and the interest in the topic continues to be very high. Many have asked to recieve copies of the book.

We will now begin examining several books of the Bible to see how the authors used the Second Exodus as the backdrop for their writings. The first one we will look at is Hebrews. If we recognize the New Exodus theme in Hebrews, then some of the passages tnat may seem hard to understand become more clear to us in this setting. The New Exodus is a theme that Jesus, Paul, Peter, John, and the other NT writers and speakers loved to utilize. We need to learn to love it too.Â

Is the Bible important for us today? Do we need the Bible to help us in our life? Is it a trustworthy guide?

One of the key events of the first Exodus was the giving of the Old Covenant. The Second Exodus has a covenant as well - a covenant of life.Â

Jesus' own death, burial, and resurrection set the stage for the entire New Exodus. He died to the world below, He overcame hades, and then He became the first to rise into the heavenly places. It is through Him and in Him that Israel would escape the bondage and corruption that was in the world and enter into the promised land: the kingdom of Heaven. 

We too are able to enjoy the riches of God's grace through seeking refuge in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.Â

The Second Exodus is all about the restoration of Israel. If we can determine the timeline of the Second Exodus, then we will have a proper understanding about the restoration of the kingdom of Israel. Through using various Old Testament and New Testament passages, we can discover the timing and the nature of the restoration. This helps us to have a better understanding of God's scheme of redemption, and it also helps to to have a proper eschatological framework.

One of the most talked-about things associated with the First Exodus were the plagues. The various plagues under the Second Exodus also play a vital role in our understanding of the timing of it. When we examine the Olivet Discourse and compare it to Revelation, it is undeniable that the Revelator had Jerusalem in mind when he sent off the Book of Revelation to the various churches in the Asia Minor.

In the first Exodus, God showed the people various signs and miracles in order to demonstrate that He was working with Moses and was the source of their comfort. In the second Exouds, God used the miraculous to prove that Jesus was the Son of God, the apostles were true witnesses, and that a change really was taking place. 


This is an exciting lesson because it shows once more how the things prophesied about in the Old Testament would be fulfilled within the apostles' day - not two thousand years removed.Â
