Dan and Kailey are back at Rancho Notorious for a special episode looking ahead to the 2019 New Zealand International Film Festival. This show also includes the complete version of Dan's interview with Incredibly Strange programmer (and first-time feature director) Ant Timpson from this week's episode of At the Movies.

Dan and Kailey gather at Rancho Notorious for an ad hoc Anzac Day recording. On the agenda is gruesome French body-horror Raw, Jude Law in Paolo Sorrentino's HBO series The Young Pope, an update on the continuing efforts to watch 52 films by women in a calendar year and Dan explains why this will be the last episode for the foreseeable future.

Dan and Kailey are joined by Hayden Frost from the Never Repeats podcast (who are watching every single NZ film from 1977 to the present day) to discuss the new remake of Goodbye Pork Pie and RNZ Checkpoint host John Campbell calls in to talk about his favourite film of recent times, Oscar-nominee Moonlight.

Dan and Kailey debate the new sci-fi blockbuster Passengers (starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt) and provide the hottest of hot takes on the just announced Golden Globes. The summer box office winners and losers are also discussed.

Recorded live around the dining table at Rancho Notorious in Silverstream, a collection of the best and brightest gather to break bread and sum up the year in movies. Kailey and Dan are joined by Nine to Noon reviewer Sarah McMullan, actor John Leigh and curator of natural history at Whanganui Regional Museum, Dr Mike Dickison. Host of ABC Radio National's film show, The Final Cut, Jason Di Rosso also calls in to tell us what the Australian year in film has been like.

Kailey is back from her North American trip (and staying on the ranch) so we thought we would squeeze one more episode into season four. Kailey and Dan discuss two new films starring Amy Adams, Arrival and Nocturnal Animals, and Dan interviews the director of Hell or High Water, David Mackenzie, about the making of the modern day Western and working with the great Jeff Bridges. We also have double passes to the new Pedro Almodóvar film Julieta to give away.
