This episode introduces Cillian O'Mahony and Colm O'Driscoll, founders of SeaSquared Clothing. Cillian and Colm set up the sustainable clothing company when they returned home to West Cork in 2020, after the pandemic put a halt to their busy working lives in London and Dublin. 

Their vision is not only to build a sustainable clothing brand but to build a community focused around sustainable living. From areas such as cleaning the ocean plastic, to reducing packaging waste, they want to play a part in improving the world we live in.

In Episode 4 Jack speaks to Matthew Brownie. Matthew Brownie, originally from New Zealand is the proud owner of ‘The Skibbereen Food Company’. This is the story of Scratch My Pork and how he brought pork crackling to Ireland…

Matthew, Pork Crackling Flavour Genius and Chef extraordinaire, has over twenty years of professional chef experience. He has Chef experience in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and throughout continental Europe. Matthew has called West Cork his home since 2008, still works as a chef in Cork County & writes for The Irish Food Magazine, Quince Publishing.

Matthew first developed the idea of the unique snack with the distinct flavourings after studying Culinary Arts at Cork Institute of Technology in 2011. While using new product development methods, and incorporating British, Irish and a bit of Kiwi gastronomy, he created the delicious snack. The pork crackling with an Irish twist, Scratch My Pork and The Skibbereen Food Company was born.

In Episode 3, Jack talks to Amanda Connell who runs an electric store in Schull, West Cork. East meets West stockists furniture, home furnishings pottery and textiles shop from the craftspeople of north India. 

East Meets West buy stock directly from their makers or small family businesses in north western India and bring them to the family business in Schull.  Locally crafted and bought, locally sold, just on different continents. They believe in fair trade pricing from manufacture to sale, not using big factory products.

In Episode 2, Jack speaks to Fionn Ferreira founder and CEO of Fionn & Co. The 20 year-old student, scientist, anti-plastic pollution innovator focuses on solving the plastic pollution crisis.

Fionn was named Grand Prize Global Winner of the Google Science Fair 2019 for his innovative design of a device which uses a magnet-based method to remove plastic particles from water with surprisingly high extraction rates as well as being fast, non-harmful and clean.

Kevin Buckley is CEO and Co-Founder of Spearline, an innovative telecommunications company located in Skibbereen. Spearline was founded in 2003 and continues to grow with offices in Ireland, Romania and India.

Ronan is the director of Escape Boats, Ireland's first Escape Room on a boat which promises an experience you will never forget. 

Both Colin and Ronan have used Ludgate's facilities to build their brands while enjoying the benefits of rural living in West Cork.
