Oh wow here we are back from hiatus, smack dab in the middle of a global crisis. We hope you enjoy our return, that everyone is safe and that we can bring you a little joy amidst the chaos. S02e82 is titled ‘The Breakfast Club’ cuz the hosts decided to eat breakfast together, as a club, and kicks off with talk of dad dress and Biggie’s catalogue while Brittain prepares the coffee. They talk workflow via Tupac studio session and relationship synergy via hypothetical Suge Knight debacle before hitting ‘Top of the Hour’ for Q&A stuff. They unintentionally verge into ASMR through baked goods before getting into the reality of the real estate market and the depths of Joe Budden’s dressing. To close things out they talk urban design, our natural state and breakdown the notion of property. See you next Monday. Lasers!

S02e100 is here and I’m sad but proud to say that it’s the last one of the season, where we get a little retrospective and take a look back at what’s been and maybe what’s still ahead. They kick things off with the chit chats before getting into some clips from early in the season, then from the future, then as per chosen by the interns. They do some exit interviews to get a sense of everyone’s time in the chairs and pick favorite guest episodes before sharing what they learned through Lasers and going over some stats for the season. They talk the point of Lasers and how to drop gems without even trying before guessing guests and being honest with one another about their experience recording the show. To close things out one last time, they share favorite moments, what made ‘em mad and what they woulda/coulda changed about Lasers had they had the chance. Thank you so much for supporting Lasers on the Ride like you have, see you all soon. Lasers!!!!

S02e98 is here and the Lasers welcome artist manager and music industry man Kevin Slim to the program! To kick things off they speak strategy when it comes to an album launch before talk turns to Kevin’s twitter feed and general persona in light of disagreements between him and Mike online. They discuss Jay-Z’s way with branding before hitting Top of the Hour to answer some audience submitted questions around death, heroes, alternative realities and religion. Kevin shares his thoughts on the Montreal music scene and his place in the mix before they get into the nitty gritty of what’s rubbing people the wrong way and most importantly which people and for what reasons. They compete in the Rapper Game (final one of the season!) and explore what really happened between Kevin and Mike and why it went left between the two at the time. They discuss perception vs reality and what it means to know the truth before looking at the impact of a Kaytranada beat for an artist and the weight of promotion for a project. They discuss the current climate of music discovery and the DSPs, who’s winning and why, before talking race, class and religion and the intersection at the center. To close things out, the group talks ego, the gift and the curse of being outspoken and the genius of Dame Dash before ending on Final Words for the week. Lasers!
