Welcome to Gen Authentic, the podcast that challenges your to work authentically through life. Everything we do in life is work; our jobs, our families, our friends, our hobbies, and ourselves - it all takes work and Stef is challenging you to do that work more authentically.

"Networking for Neurodivergents" started by acknowledging that networking can be challenging for all people and especially for those with ADHD, who may struggle with social anxiety, distractibility, and forgetfulness. However, we also pointed out that having ADHD can also be an asset in networking, as it can make you more creative, spontaneous, and memorable.

Some of the strategies discussed include:

    • Developing a clear purpose for networking: When you have a clear goal in mind, it can help you stay focused and motivated when networking. You can also be more strategic in the types of events you attend and the people you connect with.
    • Using technology to stay organized: There are many tools available that can help individuals with ADHD to stay organized and remember important details about their contacts. For example, you can use a CRM system to keep track of your contacts, or an app like Evernote to capture notes and ideas on the go.
    • Practicing active listening: People with ADHD may struggle with listening skills, but it's an essential component of networking. By practicing active listening, you can make a better impression on others and build deeper connections.
    • Being authentic and genuine: People with ADHD can often be very enthusiastic and passionate about their interests. By being authentic and genuine when networking, you can make a strong impression on others and build relationships based on shared interests.

Overall, networking can be challenging for individuals with ADHD, but it's also a skill that can be developed with practice and the right tools. By using strategies like developing a clear purpose, using technology to stay organized, practicing active listening, and being authentic and genuine, you can build valuable connections that can help you achieve your personal and professional goals.
