    About this Episode

[TW: eating disorders]. Here's a public service announcement: diets are not designed to work! So if you haven't been successful with a diet it's not your fault.

Food itself is neutral. But our relationship with food can be a revealing symptom of other things in our lives and feel hugely vulnerable.  When there is no ease around food it can make you feel like there is very little flexibility in your life - it affects everything, from socialising to relationships and self-esteem.

So, where do you start with being more resilient? A good place to start is disconnecting from the external narratives you’re absorbing about food and tapping into the signals of your own body instead. This is what many people know as intuitive eating.

Anyone can be confident. You are not born with it. It’s not a personality trait. People who are confident learned this when they were young. That’s the only difference between them and you. If you don’t currently have that information - i.e. the mindset and behaviours that create confidence -  then all you need to do is learn it.

S2 EP 16 - Tools for Resilience: Navigating grief, from break-ups to pet loss or the death of a loved one.

[TW: death and loss]. It's time to normalise talking about grief and loss. Grief can be an intensely vulnerable feeling and talking about it, especially getting more information about it, can help navigate that.

Grief can be hard in so many ways, from feeling like you have to finish the process within a time limit to judging your reactions to be inadequate or somehow wrong. Other people are often not helpful because we all grieve differently. And each of us will bring a very unique combination of personal history, attachment style, expectations and needs to how we grieve.

In this episode we are opening up the conversation on everything, from how the brain behaves in grief to how everyone grieves differently - and how we grieve every loss we experience differently too.

S2 EP14 - Tools for Resilience: You're not Too Old and It's Not Too Late

S2 EP14 - Tools for Resilience: You're not Too Old and It's Not Too Late

The vulnerability that comes from ageing, the narratives around our worth as we age and the sense of having lost something that was precious can be crushing.  But it doesn't have to be.

In this episode I'm talking to Lolly Streek, who started modeling and acting in her early 50s and is a grey haired model who also has a disability and frequently wears an eye patch. You may have seen her in ads for Volkswagen TROc, Schwarzkoff one, John Lewis, Sweaty Betty or Virgin Active - or in Vogue. We'll be looking at narratives around ageing, why representation matters and how Lolly has approached the challenges that getting older can bring.

S2 Ep13 - Tools for Resilience: The Benefits of Rejection

Rejection is something that feels universally uncomfortable. But could there be benefits to being rejected?

In this episode we're looking at why rejection destabilises some of us more than others, how we project past hurts onto current situations and the way that rejection can feed troubling core beliefs. We're also exploring how to start doing rejection differently and what those benefits might be.
