    IVORY MAGIC

    IVORY MAGIC
This one is all about celebrating the magic of the keys, from the super tight, frantic jazz piano of Brazilian Queen Tania Maria to the playful vibes Herbie Hancock puts down on the Kimiko Kasai joint that tops off this mix. If you've not listened before, or not for a while at least, it would be great to hear from you. And let me know what you think of the updated intro while you're at it too! Thousand Island Park - Mahavishnu Orchestra (Columbia) Imprevisto - Bossa Tres (Polygram) Para Chick - Tania Maria (Barclay) Hidden Within - Flora Purim (Arista) Scuba - Blackdisco (White) Gotta Get-A-Way - Ju-Par Universal Orchestra (Ju-Par Records) Nights Over Egypt - Jones Girls (CBI) Breakadawn - De La Soul (Tommy Boy) I Thought It Was You - Kimiko Kasai with Herbie Hancock (Sony)

    SOLID GROOVE

    SOLID GROOVE
If you're yet to give the podcast a listen, this is a good place to start. A straight-up mix of jazz/funk, rare groove, Brazilian and Latin samba/salsa goodness and even a touch of Stevie Wonder to finish things off. It's a cracker, enjoy! Lansanna's Priestess - Donald Byrd, DJ Spinna remix (Blue Note) Master Jones - Unknown (Bermuda Triangle) Beauty & The Beast - Ju-Par Universal Orchestra (Ju-Par Records) El Bobo - Webster Lewis (Epic) Let Yourself Be Free - Weldon Irvine (BMG) Eu So Posso Assim - Som Tres (EMI) Carnaval No Recife - Coaty De Oliveira (Arion) Funky Fanfare - Visioneers (BBE) You've Got It Bad Girl - Stevie Wonder (Motown)

    AFRO DISKO BOMBZ

    AFRO DISKO BOMBZ
BOOM! This mix is so heavy that spell-check couldn't handle it. Totally smacked that little Microsoft paperclip guy down! I didn't long ago post an afro type mix but started playing around with some new (and not so new) records yesterday and realised it was for the best. I think quite a few people liked the first afro boogie mix too so hopefully a few of you will dig this too. It kicks off with some raw afro funk from Dick Khoza, then straight into some contemporary afrobeat with Afrodizz and Tony Allen, before things get a lot more discofied with the Whiskey Barons' crew from Boston, a hypnotically dope Dutch disco edit of Ronnie Laws, some classic Patrice Rushen and a banjo based disco jam from Mandrill (yeah, you read that right). Enjoy! African Jive (Moto) - Dick Khoza (Rashid Vally) No Time - Afrodizz (Freestyle) Kilode: Carl Craig straight mix - Tony Allen (Honest Jons) More Heavy - Bosq of Whiskey Barons feat. Kaleta (Ubiquity) Good Feelings - Ronnie Laws re-edit (White) I Was Tired Of Being Alone - Patrice Rushen Happy Beat - Mandrill (Arista)

    SONGS OF THE SIRENS

    SONGS OF THE SIRENS
It's the haunting melodies, the dusty echoes of pianos and rattling snare drums, the lo-fi chimes and the fuzzy bass... This is a more subtle, sedate selection but not without a sting in the tail. Featuring several fine cuts from the excellent Sonar Kollektiv label from Germany, these are some of the quieter records from my collection that were begging to see the light of day. Upside Down - NOMO and Shawn Lee (White) Think Twice - Jay Dee (BBE) Take Over Me - Dixon and Georg Levin feat. Celina Bostic (Sonar Kollektiv) Sweet About Me - Gabriella Cimli - Matthew Herbert's Savoury Mix (Island) Sweet Child - Micatone (Sonar Kollektiv) Unforscene - Dark Souls feat. Cecilia Stalin (Sonar Kollektiv) Can't Get Over - Dinner At The Thompson's (Earth At Work)

    LOS RHYTHMOS LATINOS

    LOS RHYTHMOS LATINOS
Funked up latin and salsa beats for the head-nodders and the rump shakers. Definitely worth pumping up the volume when the sun is out... El Presidente (Heartbreak Sound remix) - Jeru The Damaja (GAMM) Toda Mojaita (Dutch Rhythm Combo remix) - Gecko Turner (Lovemonk) Changui De Manteca - Kidboy feat. Julio Cesar Rodriguez (Jazz & Milk) Rata Del - Palov & Mishkin (Rebtuz) Los Hermanos Latinos - Las Calenas (White) Bienvenida - Grande Buffo (White) Pick Up The Pieces - Wilson Das Neves (Lovemonk)
