Raising Hell at Hull House in "Night of the Demons" - Under the Influence Pt 1

"Angela is having a party. Jason and Freddy are too scared to come. But you'll have a hell of a time." Angela must have known that we are celebrating our 100th episode because she threw us an awesome party! It's got the three things that every 80's Halloween party should have - beer, music, and demonic possession. We're kicking off our Under the Influence triple feature (that focuses on the possession horror sub-genre) with 1988's "Night of the Demons."

Voyeurism, Fear, and a Shameful Society in "Peeping Tom" - Silver Screen Slashers Pt 3

Released just two months before Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" and showcasing just as much shock value, 1960's "Peeping Tom" explores fear, voyeurism, and the shame that society puts on our basic human needs. In this episode, we meet our monster MARK LEWIS in London and discuss his upbringing, the appropriate age to enjoy a glass of milk, and the ignorant destruction of Michael Powell's career.

Consumerism and the (Turbo) Man in "Jingle All the Way" - Holiday Horror Double Feature Pt 1

In Part 1 of this double feature, horror hosts Zach, Danny, and Casey are joined by special guest Ben Davis as they tackle the unapologetically cynical, chaotically capitalist comedy JINGLE ALL THE WAY, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sinbad, Rita Wilson, Jake Lloyd, and Phil Hartman. They discuss director Ben Davis' new short film The Jellyfish Man, the monster of consumerism, and what it means to be a "bad dad."

Doctor Who, Phallic Symbolism, and "The Lair of the White Worm" - Folk Around and Find Out Pt 3

Wrapping up our “Folk Around and Find Out” triple feature, join us as we brave the Stonerich Cavern in Ken Russell’s loose (in more ways than one) adaptation of Bram Stoker’s pagan horror novel, THE LAIR OF THE WHITE WORM, starring Peter Capaldi, Amanda Donohoe, Hugh Grant, Sammi Davis, and Catherine Oxenberg. The film is a surreal and visually stunning horror-comedy based on the legend of The Lambton Worm. We discuss the connections between the ancient pagan beliefs and the cyclical nature of life and the power of nature over humanity. Oh, and we find out that Doctor Who’s Peter Capaldi is actually a past version of Harold Ramis.
