Ted Goldstein, structural engineer and inventor of Shuriken™ Structural Nut Keeper, joins Brad from Tokyo, Japan, to discuss how Shuriken makes HSS connections faster and easier. While HSS columns are the norm in Japan, welded splices pose a hurdle to adoption in the U.S. Shuriken allows for field-bolted column splices, simplifying the process and cutting costs. Brad and guest John Chatterton, Vice President of Engineering Technologies for Zekelman Industries, provide an update on Atlas Tube’s new straight-seam ERW tube mill currently being constructed in Blytheville, Arkansas. The new mill will be rolling jumbo HSS (https://www.atlastube.com/products/jumbo-hss/) in larger sizes than previously available, and it’s all made in America for fast delivery.
