    About this Episode

Dr. Bruce Becker continues the exploration of mountains in the Bible with Part 2 of the Mountains story line. Today's mountains include not just big mountains where big things happened but also a mountain that moved and one you won't find on a map! There are 35 mountains named in the Bible, with almost all of them in the Old Testament. But the significance isn't on just the mountains themselves. Instead, it's what happened at these mountains that has great impact today. Through this study of seeing big things happen on big mountains, we'll discover the intersection of the things of God and the things of this world. Dr. Becker mentioned Time of Grace video devotions that have also explored mountains. You can view them here: – A look at the life of Noah: https://bit.ly/3dDndnF – The Israelites in the wilderness. This video is part of Pastor Jeremy's Evening Encouragements; continue the videos in this playlist for a complete look at the Israelites' plight: https://bit.ly/2Rd7vYP – Elijah and the prophets of Baal: https://bit.ly/3mnhfLs – Sermon on the Mount. Pastor Mike was in Israel last year and recorded dozens of devotions there, including on the Mount of Beatitudes, near Mount Tabor and on the Mount of Olives: timeofgrace.org/Israel About our podcast "Bible Threads With Dr. Bruce Becker": The Bible can be intimidating, right? There are 66 different books, more than 700,000 words, and all of it was written over a period of 1,600 years by dozens of different authors. How do we make sense of it all, and what does it mean for our lives? Amazingly, the Bible is incredibly interconnected with “threads” that run through it from beginning to end. In this podcast, Bible scholar and author Dr. Bruce Becker will uncover these threads, help you dig deeper into God’s truth, and inspire you to live your life with greater confidence and joy. Dr. Becker brings his vast experience to share with you through this podcast. He has served as the pastor of a mission start in New York State; lead pastor of a church in Brillion, Wisconsin; and a ministry coach to churches and schools.

    War Zone—Good Gone Bad

    War Zone—Good Gone Bad

At various times and places in the Bible, the devil shows up to wage war against God's people. God's people can find themselves in a War Zone doing battle with the devil. Thankfully, we wear the full armor of God.

In this episode, Dr. Bruce Becker explores the origin of the devil which was good, but what followed was bad. The devil is an example of a good supernatural entity gone bad. Although there are many questions the Bible doesn't answer for us, there are clues as to what happened with the devil and why God kicked him out of heaven.

True Crimes—Bible Edition 2: The Devil

What was the most tragic crime ever committed and by whom?

In this episode, Dr. Bruce Becker investigates the murder of our first parents, Adam and Eve by the Devil himself. The Devil lied to the first couple about what God had said. They believed the lie and disobeyed God. Their disobedience destroyed the perfect life and relationship God had intended for them when he created them in his own image. But that's not the end of the story. God decided to restore that life and relationship through the life, death, and resurrection of God's own Son.

    True Crimes—Bible Edition 2: Barabbas

Jesus and Barabbas—the innocent for the guilty.

In this episode, Dr. Bruce Becker investigates the circumstances involving Jesus and Barabbas. Barabbas was a bandit, a murderer, and an insurrectionist who tried to overthrow the Roman government in Judea. He was sentenced to death by crucifixion. Yet he was set free. In contrast, the innocent Jesus was sentenced to death and not set free—the innocent for the guilty. But that wasn't anything new in God's economy of justice.

True Crimes—Bible Edition 2: Judas Iscariot

There are three Bible threads that link Judas Iscariot back to the Old Testament: two in the book of Psalms and one from the prophet Zechariah.

In this episode, Dr. Bruce Becker investigates the multiple crimes committed by Judas, a man from Kerioth. Judas Iscariot spent three years with Jesus, hearing his teaching, seeing his miracles, and learning about God's grace and mercy and forgiveness. Despite all this, Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. All the crimes would have been forgiven if only Judas had believed what Jesus taught.
