Charles conducted the performance featuring the great Polish pianist, Leszek Mozdzer and the great American clarinetist, Eddie Daniels along with the Akusa Orchestra in Gdansk, Poland for an audience of 22,000 people as part of a 30th year celebration of the Solidarity Movement. He has conducted symphony orchestras performing his music in Budapest, Prague, Poland, Caracas, London, Israel and Tokyo as well as in the US. Charles was inducted into the Songwriter Hall of Fame in 2004. He was awarded Lifetime Achievement awards from the Society of Composers and Lyricists and BMI and is a Governor of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. Since 2008, he has produced an annual concert benefitting the Fulfillment Fund, an organization that mentors and provides scholarships for students in economically challenged areas of Los Angeles. The concert, entitled “The Songs of Our Lives” has presented some of the legendary songwriters of the second half of the 20th century performing their own songs. Stu Shostak Stu's career in television and broadcasting dates back to the early 1970s when he began as an audience coordinator for game shows and sitcoms. In 1982, he received his performing break when he was given an opportunity to do the audience warm-up at the popular situation comedy, "Diff'rent Strokes". He did so well that he was assigned regular warm-up duties the following season on the Ricky Schroder sitcom, "Silver Spoons", a position he held for two years. Stu has also done warm-ups for "The Jeffersons", "Mama's Family", "Amen", and many others. Behind the scenes, he's been the owner/operator of Shokus Video, a company dedicated to the preservation of 1950s TV shows on DVD and video tape, since 1979. He was also the producer and director of "The Jack La Lanne Show Commemorative Special" home video, as well as Lucille Ball's personal film archivist for the last ten years of her life. He produced, wrote, and directed a bonus featurette for Shout! Brutsman's October Three, a social drama about the O. J. Simpson trial, received numerous accolades, including Best Film awards at The South Beach Film Festival and Houston Worldfest.
