    A lone attacker behind the wheel in London, he mounts the kerb, striking several people.

    The attacker then attempts to enter the palace of Westminster and one person stand in his way. Seconds later, an officer lay dying as those around him attempted to save his life.

    The dust settles on the day, 5 are dead and 48 injured.

    Listen as the events are detailed with addition of Barry Calder, a Firearms Officer who heard the radio calls and made straight to scene.

    Centenier George Le CRONIER was a 72 year old Police officer who was murdered in the line of duty, stabbed whilst attempting to arrest a couple expected of running a brothel.

    The tragedy began when a man was visiting Blackpool beach with his dog, playing fetch with a ball.

    Little did anyone realise that an eager attempt from the terrier to retrieve the ball would end in a tragedy remembered in Blackpool for over 40 years.

     

    JP & Dave discuss the three heroes that lost their lives in this tragedy, once again putting civilians lives before their own. We also look at the numerous other emergency services, passersby and medical staff at scene, more importnatly 2 other officers who got into the water, and were lucky to survive.

    SPOTLIGHT: PC Ian Broadhurst

    Ian BROADHURST was murdered whilst trying to effect the arrest of a suspect in Leeds in 2003.

    Described as “an excellent officer” and “an incredible person’ by those that knew and loved Ian, he was shot and killed on Boxing Day 2003 in an incident that disgusted and horrified the nation, where two other officers were also shot, and narrowly escaped death.

    PC Broadhurst’s story is the focus of JP & Dave for December’s spotlight edition - ensuring heroes are Always Remembered & Never Forgotten.
