    About this Episode

We often picture courage as a defining trait for heroes and larger than life leaders. But, as someone who knows both a lot of leaders and a lot about being a leader, my guest Tyler Reagin believes courage is vital for us all. In my conversation with Tyler, we discuss how we can all be courageous as we live a life of leading and influencing those around us. Whether you are on the frontlines fighting against the pandemic, fighting for social justice, or just fighting to maintain sanity in these tense and uncertain times, courage is a critical anchor that we all need in order to weather life’s storms.

    About my guest:

Tyler Reagin is the founder and CEO of The Life Giving Company (lifegiving.co). He is the author of The Life-Giving Leader (Oct 2018) and a 2nd leadership book to be released in March 2021.

He is the former President of Catalyst, a leadership development organization that exists to unify and equip leaders who love the Church through resources and experiential events.

Prior to leading the charge at Catalyst, Tyler served for seven years under the leadership of Andy Stanley as the Service Programming Director of Browns Bridge Community Church (a campus of North Point Ministries).

He received his Masters of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and currently serves as a leadership coach for teams and organizations.

The Anchor of Generosity With Dave and Jenny Marrs

Often, we associate the word “generosity” with money or financial resources. But, Dave and Jenny Marrs show us that living a generous life can mean so much more: from devoting time and effort towards a cause, to living a life showing our children how we can commit to causes that are bigger than ourselves.

    About my guests:

Dave and Jenny Marrs are a builder and a designer couple, who are also passionate advocates for community transformation, family preservation, and orphan care around the globe. They live in a rescued and restored farmhouse with their four children and what Jenny refers to as “too many to count” farm animals. Most recently, they have worked with HGTV to develop Fixer to Fabulous, a home renovation show focused on restoring historic homes in their beautiful Northwest Arkansas area. Dave and Jenny also run The Berry Farm, a u-pick blueberry farm in Bentonville, which allows local families to enjoy the experience of filling their own buckets with fresh, local berries. The real mission of The Berry Farm is a domino effect rippling from Northwest Arkansas to Zimbabwe, where profits from the farm support vocational training, farming skills, and food for children who have been orphaned.

The Anchor of Hope With Kyle and Elizabeth Gibson

The Anchor of Hope With Kyle and Elizabeth Gibson

The Bible calls us to anchor our souls in hope, but how can we truly be anchored by hope in the midst of such uncertain and stressful times? This is the question that Kyle and Elizabeth Gibson address in their conversation with Chris Marlow this week on The Simple Good Podcast. As a professional Major League Baseball player (currently pitching for the Texas Rangers), Kyle is experiencing his first spring without baseball since he was 6 years old. His wife Elizabeth, on the other hand, has recently added the responsibility of being a full-time homeschool teacher to her already busy life of being a mother of three. Needless to say, so many sudden changes have brought on some questions of identity for Kyle and Elizabeth. Life looks very different for all of us in one way or another, but in the midst of whatever storms we find ourselves in, we can endure with the help of properly placed and practiced hope.

Race, Reconciliation, and Hope With Gerald Fadayomi and Charles Lee

Race, Reconciliation, and Hope With Gerald Fadayomi and Charles Lee

With the heartbreaking and devastating racial injustices happening in America, we wanted to open up a conversation with a few of our friends on Race, Reconciliation, and Hope. This conversation is long overdue, as our black and brown brothers and sisters have experienced these injustices for centuries. Our guides in this conversation are Gerald Fadayomi and Charles Lee. We have an honest discussion about racism in our everyday lives, and how both overt and covert racism plays out, whether one is conscious of its presence or not. Gerald and Charles explain some of the history and effects of systemic racism in our society and make some excellent recommendations on steps we can take to consciously be aware of and work towards ending racism and implicit bias in our everyday lives. They examine the roles of repentance and reconciliation and ask the question: is there any hope for unity if we can do these things?

    Get to know our guests:

Gerald serves as the Founder and President of the Stello Initiative, a 501c3 organization that mobilizes young adults to serve through service-based conferences (For God So Loved Tour). Gerald’s passion for the next generation is best expressed by preaching biblical truth to students and adults around the globe. This passion has allowed him to speak to students at camps and conferences across the country including North Point Ministries, Bigstuf Camps, Passion City Church, Calvary Chapel, Momentum Conference, Orange Conference, and many other events. Gerald is the author of “Before You Go,” a resource designed to help students follow Jesus and grow in their faith after high school. He also co-authored Starting Now, a devotional for college freshman. Prior to his current role, Gerald spent 3 years doing non-profit work for the YMCA of Metro Atlanta, and 4 years as a student pastor at Browns Bridge Church. Gerald is happily married to his beautiful wife Kiley and loves spending his free time cheering on Lebron James and browsing through the SNKRS app. They live in Atlanta and recently welcomed identical twin girls into their family!
