The Best in The World - Knows About Reaching Your Potential | Part 1
Coach Trent M Clark, 3x World Series Coach, and current CEO of Athletic Influencer Marketing (AIM), a NIL Education, Agency, and Talent Representation Firm, hosts former longtime MLB player, and 2x World Champion with the New York Yankees, Chad Curtis.
Chad has had a storied life. He has known controversy and he has been witness to MANY labels: Father, Overachiever, Husband, All-American, Christian, World Champ, Prisoner, Outfielder, Hard-Nose, Sex Offender, Church Elder, Author, Christ-Follower, and Parolee.
It's hard to tell which of those "labels" are accurate. And from at least a single person's view at some time, and in all those stated above, they could be argued as truth.
I started coaching Chad in 1996 when he signed as Free Agent in Cleveland with the Indians - I was drawn to Chad for many reasons.
Immediate relations grew in friendship as we are both from Michigan (not tons of MLB players & staff hail from the Mitten State).
Additionally, Chad was considered extremely competitive and driven, but undersized (I had heard that scouring report before), he was an outfielder, he wore his faith on his sleeve like a badge of honor and I flat-out respect people that stand on their ideals and values. And I agreed with his, but I have always had an admiration for those that have the courage to stand for what they believe in, draw a line in the sand, and will not allow others, or themselves, to cross that boundary, plus are committed to those values even when challenged in them.
Chad might consider himself a modern-day story, like David from the Bible. He was on this fabulous path, blessed, a family, an MLB World Champion, and revered by many in his home state, and his church. He was a Tebow before Tim Tebow came along!
Then...he sinned. He crossed the very boundary he had built his life on. Like David, he had given in to temptation. Like Eve, he was convinced to eat from the tree - the forbidden fruit.
A responsibility to bear for consequences of one's actions. A community was distraught. Grace from the least expected, and condemnation from those that professed grace for all.
Coach Trent and Chad talk baseball, some mutual friends, overcoming the biggest challenges in our lives, and the future. Also, Chad's new book, his prison ministry, and what "the best in the world" know about reaching your potential.
