The energetics of moving between statistically steady states in flows driven by buoyancy and wind by John Craske (ICL)
Talk given by Dr John Craske (Imperial College London) at the Aerodynamics and Flight Mechanics group, University of Southampton, on 20 March 2019, as part of the Southampton/AFM seminar series.
The talk describes work studying the effect of a step change in the wind on the flow and stratification of a enclosed volume with high and low openings and an internal source of buoyancy. It finds stratified interiors are effective in buffering temporal variations in the wind.
