The Modern Crone: Season 4: Creative Spirit with Personal Brand Photographer: Rebecca Downie

Rebecca Downie is an international personal branding photographer whose clients are based across the UK, Singapore and Australia.

Her great uncle was a photographer and it was the many old photos from her mum's life that instilled in her the value of photos. A tangible record of a life lived.

From teen years she often had a camera in her hand but with no creative role models in her life she followed the traditional path of uni and business, followed by a 15 year career in the media and marketing industry.

Her passion is empowering women leaders and founders to proudly take the space they deserve.

The Modern Crone: Season 4: Creative Spirit with Professional Artist Julie Williams

The Modern Crone: Season 4: Creative Spirit with Professional Artist Julie Williams

Creative Spirit with Professional Artist - Julie Williams

Julie Williams was born an artist, passionate and creative as a little girl. She was drawn to esoteric practice as a teen, a full-blown Hippy in the early 70’s and then became a dedicated Biba follower of fashion in London.

After studying art and ceramics at school she wanted to go to Art School in Brighton UK but her plans were thwarted so she went to Paris for a year in 1977. There her true passion for in Art and the History of Art developed, she returned home and completed a BA in business studies, tourism and law to appease her parents and shortly after emigrated to Sydney Australia.

Finding love and becoming a mother at 24 left no time for developing her artistic passion. She immersed herself in ‘Looking at Art’ until the age of 41 when she finally achieved her dream and enrolled at the National Art School in Sydney in 2000.

Since then Julie has been in numerous exhibitions in Sydney, Regional Australia, and Singapore including a satellite exhibition during ARTJOG in Jogjakarta Indonesia in 2018.

It was whilst living in Singapore for five years that Julie also developed her esoteric practice and deepened her Spiritual enquiry that really shifted her creative practice.

Her paintings are conceptual, based on an idea and constructed with attention to her craft, but lately she has felt drawn to clearing her mind of all thought and trusting her Spirit to pull her through a painting. A painting is an illusion of space and it is this playing with space through shape, form and colour that keeps Julie painting.

Join us as Julie shares her unique journey into claiming her creative expression fully later in her life, how her process feels as she nurtures concept to finished work, and how important her spiritual practice is for staying in flow and aligned with the truth of her works.

The Modern Crone: Season 4: Creative Spirit with Anastassia Selezneva

The Modern Crone: Season 4: Creative Spirit with Anastassia Selezneva

Creative Spirit with Creative Director - Anastassia Selezneva

Anastassia Selezneva first began her creative exploration as a painter in her youth, and transitioned to jewellery design as a new medium in 2012. The desire came spontaneously when she walked into a jewellery supply store on Queen St in Toronto.

This chance encounter ignited an immediate curiosity. Anastassia taught herself basic goldsmithing techniques late into most nights and early mornings. Moving between her kitchen counter and her makeshift studio, she experimented with wire wrapping gemstones, fusing metals, and stone setting.

Her life began to form a duality; she was a business analyst by day, and an artist by night. The pull to be immersed in creativity was clear and in 2015, Anastassia quit her job, began training as a professional goldsmith at George Brown College and simultaneously, launched her line, Anastassia Sel Jewelry.

Synonymous with her roots, Anastassia’s collection is handmade in Toronto, using 100% certified Canadian gold and ethically sourced materials.

Since then, Anastassia’s work has been featured in Vogue, Elle, Wedluxe, Brides, among other publications, has walked the New York, Milan and Toronto runways, and can be found in select boutiques in Canada, US and online.

Join us as we explore Anastassia’s journey into her full creative expression, how our greater purpose keeps finding us until we respond, her incredible melding of spiritual travel and downloads into her jewellery, and how working with gold as supreme medium.
