    About this Episode

Do you often categorize foods as "good" and "bad"? Does it feel like you're slowing dying when your child comes home with (another) bag of candy from a birthday party? Or perhaps you feel guilty whenever you crave foods deemed "unhealthy"?

In this episode I interview Alissa Rumsey, a registered dietitian, certified intuitive eating counselor, food and body liberation coach, and the author of Unapologetic Eating.

Together we talk about how white supremacy plays a part in our beliefs about health and body size and the way our obsession with health influences how we talk about food. Alissa also breaks down whether we have a moral imperative to try to be healthy.

In this mini-sode, Jamie shares about her group coaching program Homecoming.

    Accidental Motherhood

    Accidental Motherhood

In May 2016, Jamie discovered she was pregnant with her first child. While her partner Adam was elated, Jamie was a wreck! She was sure motherhood, a life position and job she'd never aspired to, was going to ruin her life.

So began Jamie's journey of accidental motherhood. In this episode of The Path Home, Jamie discusses her disinterest in motherhood as a young woman, the twists and turns of accidental motherhood that continue to floor her, and how, even when living an accident, we still have choice and (a little bit of) control. Jamie also gets into the internal and external expectations that make navigating accidents or hard right turns all the more difficult and the #1 question she asks herself and her clients to get out of the "shoulds" and back in touch with what truly matters.

Whether you're an accidental mother or planned your pregnancies and are finding motherhood to still be rife with twists and turns, don't miss this episode.

    Embracing Pleasure

    Embracing Pleasure

As women, we've been socialized to ignore our basic needs in order to prioritize others. This is by design, as it leaves little time or energy for pursuing pleasure -- a core need that truly makes life worth living.

Believing that we don't deserve pleasure (or that pursuing it is shameful), often leads to complicated feelings when we try to explore and embrace what feels good to us.

So, how do we break free from these inherited beliefs and begin the journey toward owning our pleasure?

In this episode I interview Daniela Stevens, a trauma and attachment informed sex and intimacy coach who specializes in supporting couples and individuals to experience deep sexual connection and intimacy with themsleves and their partners. Together we discuss the human need for pleasure, why we ignore that need and how to give ourselves a permission slip for pleasure -- without guilt or shame. You can learn more about Daniela's work at her website: https://www.danielastevens.com/.

    Setting and Maintaining Healthy Boundaries

    Setting and Maintaining Healthy Boundaries

Welcome to the unofficial Guide to Setting and Maintaining Healthy Boundaries. If you're like most women, you were probably taught that your boundaries were not as important as the demands and expectations of those around you. And because we were offered no tools or opportunities to safely practice boundary setting, now knowing what our boundaries are and how to set them feels overwhelming. In this episode, we discuss what boundaries are, why they're important, and how to set and maintain healthy boundaries to soften your resentment and increase the health of your relationships...both with others and yourself! Why Confident Women Stay in Unhappy Relationships

Why Confident Women Stay in Unhappy Relationships

Have you ever met an amazing woman who is in a relationship you feel is not good for her? Or maybe that woman is you, and you’re not sure how to move past a partnership that just isn't right anymore.

In this episode of The Path Home, we discuss the societal pressure on women to prioritize romantic relationships, the challenges of leaving a long-term partnership, and ways that high-capacity women can move through a relationship that has run its course. I also share my experience of divorce, dating and learning to trust the love that felt right to me, rather than saying "yes" to whatever haphazard affection came my way.

    Embracing Our Superpowers

    Embracing Our Superpowers

As women, we often have the habit of devaluing the things we're good at. Also many of us were taught that our superpowers are things that make us “too much.” However in the words of one of my mentors, business coach Kelly Diels: “everything that has been used against you is a source of power.”

So how do we embrace, honor and harness our superpowers for the ease and freedom we seek?

In my newest episode of The Path Home, Kelly and I talk about what superpowers are, how to recognize yours, and how we can use them for good. We also discuss leadership, abuse of power and how to reclaim leadership for the world we seek to build.

You can learn more about Kelly's work here and be sure to follow her on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/kelly.diels/.
