The Problem with the Question "What have you accomplished?" in South Asian Culture

HAPPY PRIDE: all my life i've been told I'm so manly-suppose to be an insult but as I have grown up and figured out my true identity, I have turned that insult into one of the my most proudest qualities i exude as a south asian queer womxn! Be proud be bold be whoever you want to be -you have no one to apologize to for being your true authentic self!

This podcast dives into the problems associated with what South Asian Culture regards as being Accomplished .through what I have seen and heard during my upbringing in my Gujarati community and household.

Coming out feels great but coping with your South Asian parent's reaction who don't take it well is another ball game. Here are some of the challenges I face even now after coming out.

Everyone has a coming out story, for me, it was more of a final understanding of all my feelings I was having towards women and finally coming to the realization I was gay.

We as South Asians have been taught time and time again "sex" is taboo but let's deconstruct the ideologies of our parents and start normalizing the conversations about sex, sexology, and bodies as sexual entities.

We as humans specifically South Asians love to put our family, friends and specifically our parents first. What's worse is that we put their needs above our own to the point where we lose ourselves. Let's stop the vicious cycle and start practicing the importance of our mental health.
