    About this Episode

Lorraine and Stu could not resist the topic of the week in this Conveyancing Matters chat – the all too familiar story of the vicar who lost his house.

The story of the Luton vicar who returned to his house to find that it had been sold by a fraudster has been widely reported in the national media.

As Peter Dodge, who appeared in the Court of Appeal for Mishcon de Reya said:  ‘Dreamvar is back in the news’

Stu and Lorraine discuss the steps that conveyancers should be taking to mitigate the risk of seller fraud and give some useful hints and tips for practitioners.

They also mention Rob Hailstone from BOLD Legal – he has a red flags checklist which must be an essential document for all conveyancers.

Conveyancing Cyber Attack - - has everyone lost sight of the contract?

Conveyancing Cyber Attack - - has everyone lost sight of the contract?

Some conveyancers have  been affected by another cyber attack and the problems rumble on into a second week

Everyone, rightly, should  have sympathy for the affected clients and coal face conveyancers - but has the 'be kind' message gone too far?

Has everyone lost sight of the contract?

In this Conveyancing Matters chat, Lorraine and Stu discuss the importance of not losing sight of the fact that there is a binding contract between the seller and the buyer with legal consequences if one party fails to complete; whatever the reason for that failure

And what should a conveyancer do if the firm on the other side cannot give an undertaking to redeem a mortgage on their client's sale?
