    Podcast Summary

    • Supreme Court Extends Access to Abortion Pill, House Republicans Propose Debt Ceiling PlanThe Supreme Court extends access to the abortion pill, while House Republicans propose a debt ceiling plan involving spending cuts and debt limit increase. A deadly shooting at an Alabama dance studio is under investigation.

There are significant developments on two major issues making headlines. Firstly, the Supreme Court has extended access to the abortion pill mifepristone through tomorrow, as they decide whether to keep it available nationwide following a Texas judge's suspension of its FDA approval. The delay in the court's ruling suggests disagreement among its members. Secondly, House Republicans have introduced a plan to tackle the debt ceiling, which includes raising the debt limit, cutting federal spending, blocking student debt cancellation, and adding new welfare work requirements. The proposal is unlikely to pass in the Democrat-controlled Senate, but its aim is to put pressure on Democrats to negotiate a deal. Additionally, authorities have made arrests in a deadly shooting at an Alabama dance studio that left 4 people dead and 32 injured. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are focusing on the families and victims.

    • Tragedy Strikes: Stampede in Yemen, Murder Charges in US, Severe Weather, and a Facebook SettlementAt least 78 people died in a Yemen stampede, three brothers were arrested for murder in the US, severe weather caused tornadoes killing two, and a $725 million Facebook settlement was reached for data sharing without consent. Marijuana use did not significantly boost creativity.

Tragedy struck in different parts of the world this week. In Yemen, at least 78 people were killed in a stampede during a donation distribution event for the Muslim holiday Eid al Fitr. Three brothers were arrested and charged with murder in the US. Meanwhile, severe weather hit the Midwest and South, resulting in tornadoes that killed at least two people in Oklahoma and destroyed homes and roads. On a different note, a class action settlement of $725 million was reached with Facebook over allegations of sharing users' data without consent. Anyone who used Facebook in the US between 2007 and 2022 could be eligible for a payment. Lastly, a study found no difference in creativity between individuals under the influence of marijuana and those who were not. Despite common beliefs, being high did not significantly enhance creativity.

#119 - It's About The Opportunities in Whitley City, Kentucky

This week, in Whitley City, Kentucky, when a gruesome discovery is made in the back of a rural trailer, police can't quite close the net around a suspect, until a new, star witness comes forward. But are they telling the truth? It's family vs family as accusations fly, and death penalties are pushed for. This is a crazy story from the first minute!

Along the way, we find out that sometimes "opportunities" aren't enough, that misunderstandings can lead to multiple deaths, and that finding fingernail clippings can cause a decade worth of court proceedings!!

    Ep. #44 - I Read Roe v. Wade And It's Worse Than I Thought

    Ep. #44 - I Read Roe v. Wade And It's Worse Than I Thought

I decided to read Roe v. Wade. All 21 pages of single-spaced legal language.  I was appalled by what I found. Here are some of my initial thoughts:

    • It intentionally sets ethical progress back 2000 years
    • It invents rights that are not in the constitution
    • It relies on junk science by citing unqualified people and eugenicists (yes, eugenicists)

Is it time to ignore Roe v Wade?  I think so.
