    About this Episode

In this episode, the Tomboy Tarts, Persis and Raven get babysitting advice from Singapore's funniest moms Jasmine Han and Shelly Holly. We find out what is like to survive, and not perfect motherhood from these wine loving ladies and how they get away with writing an "explicit" motherhood book. Rated P for Poop!   As ex-Shield agents on the run, Tomboy Tarts Persis and Raven are forced to go undercover as security guards at a pool party. The over-enthusiastic Raven wants to issue a Pool Party violation ticket to Jasmine Han & Shelly Holly until Persis realises that they are the authors of "I am not Perfect, I'm a Mom" book. In between getting babysitting advice and being hit by a slime bomb, first-time authors Jasmine & Shelly talk about how they meet and why they write the book. Over copious amounts of champagne, we discuss about about surviving and not perfecting, motherhood, neurotic mums, challenges of writing an "explicit" motherhood book and poop. Lots and lots of poop. Persis decides that she wants to do a truck getaway with the slime bombs and things literally go to the shit from there. How will these Tirade tomboys get out of this stinky mess? Listen and find out on a grossly funny new episode of the show! IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT: 1. GUEST BIOWe find out more about Jasmine Han and Shelly Holly, the two co-authors of the funny and explicit motherhood book, I am not Perfect, I'm a Mom. They share with us how they first met and what motivates them to write this not your typical parenting book. 2. NEWS HIGHLIGHTS - Hollywood's golden couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner annouced their divorce after 10 years of marriage and it's freaking everybody out big time. - In Alaska, residents of Fairbanks reported seeing several terrifying foot-long eel-like fish scattered around town. - Twitter explodes after a woman named Sarah O'Connor accidentally tweets ultimate 'Terminator' reference. 3.  I'M NOT PERFECT, I 'M A MOM Modern-day parenting is tough but there's a lot of fun to be had in raising kids too. We discuss about about surviving and not perfecting, motherhood, neurotic mums, challenges of writing an "explicit" motherhood book and lots of poop. 4. RAPID FIRE In this rapid fire round of questions with Jasmine and Shelly,  we ask them what they will do if they swap bodies with each other.  Who are their favourite TV moms? What is the funniest thing their kids have said to them?  Find out in this hilarious segment. ABOUT JASMINE HAN Jasmine Han was educated in the US, and is the co-owner of SLAP Dance Studio, where she is a pole dance and striptease instructor. She met her husband in a pub that she used to run, got knocked up, got married, and moved back to her hometown of Singapore, where her family lives. She is a working mom with two kids (and no helper), and wants more kids. Connect with SLAP Dance Studio for the latest updates on classes. ABOUT SHELLY HOLLY Shelly Holly hails from Texas, and she met her husband on Match.com. She recently relocated to Singapore because of her husband’s work, and became an expat mom. She has come to realise that for every culture, there are different ideas as to how children should be raised. She has one kid, no helper, no car, and no paycheque. ABOUT I AM NOT PERFECT, I 'M A MOM Most motherhood books tell you how to be the perfect mom and how to raise the perfect kid. This is not one of those books. This is a collection of light-hearted, true stories about the bizarre experience of pregnancy, attempting to avoid public tantrums, making it through the terrible twos (and ones, threes and fours) and trying not to punch the husband while he is trying to be “helpful”. Jasmine Han & Shelly Holly, both moms with three young kids between them, regale us with their humorous collective experiences about surviving, and not perfecting, motherhood. RYAN Ryan is the sub-editor for justsaying.asia who grew up on Marvel and then moving over to Superman and then thinking flying was a pre-requisite to being an actual superhero. Connect with Ryan at justsaying.asia.  GEEK GIRL CON ORIGIN STORY GeekGirlCon celebrates and honors the legacy of women contributing to science and technology; comics, arts, and literature; and game play and game design by connecting geeky women world-wide and creating community to foster continued growth of women in geek culture through events. The first inkling of GeekGirlCon took form at San Diego Comic-Con in 2010. Mixed into days of programming focused on superheroes, blockbuster films, and popular television celebrities was a panel called “Geek Girls Exist.” Despite this panel being scheduled at the same time as the popular Scott Pilgrim panel, the room was packed. This panel dedicated to female geeks and nerds motivated a huge audience to come together and celebrate geek girls. Harnessing the momentum, these women and their supporters connected via social media and started tossing ideas around. They began to coalesce into an organization and a purpose. After many, many hours of hard work and planning, on October 8, 2011, the first-ever GeekGirlCon opened its doors at the Seattle Center’s Northwest Rooms and the EMP Museum. The two-day convention was a huge success. Nearly 4,000 people celebrated the female geek, including 400 attendees under 10 years old. The convention showcased 70+ hours of programming supported by 50 volunteers and 30 staff members (also 100% volunteers). Leading up to the convention, GeekGirlCon put on more than 50 events to connect with other geeks, raise needed funds, and build a strong community. Today this grassroots-led, all-volunteer organization is growing. Now close to 40 strong, the staff works tirelessly to elevate the profile of geeky women across all types of geeky activities through social media and a multitude of events, including the annual GeekGirlCon convention. An extension of Tomboy Tarts, Tomboy Tirade (pronounced Tomboy Tee-rahd, the way we like to say it), is a no-holds comedy chat podcast with a whole lot of geek and humour thrown into every episode. Hosted by the co-founders of Tomboy Tarts, Persis Shanker and Raven Lim, the first episode was produced in June 2013 to a small audience of supportive friends and family. Over the next year, the creatively quirky funny podcast has become Asia’s biggest, all-female English comedy chat podcast. Tomboy Tirade is not your typical petite Asian girl next door podcast show. It can get pretty curvy, loud and opinionated as Persis and Raven break down the world’s trendiest topics of the moment in a fun and dramatic way. Unlike most podcast shows that will send you to the ‘Sleep Zone’, Tomboy Tirade is produced like a half hour situational comedy TV show with thematic storylines, breaks and jingles between chat segments. It’s banter overdosed on caffeine. SUBSCRIBE TO TOMBOY TIRADE ON ITUNES & STITCHER OR DOWNLOAD THE SHOW FOR FREE!

The national team that is also known as The Westfield Matildas, has twice reached the quarter-finals in 2007 and 2011. The Matildas start their FIFA World Cup campaign against the USA on the 8th of June. Can the Matildas tip World Cup scales against USA, Sweden and Nigeria in the Group of Death? 4. CHALLENGES FACING WOMEN FOOTBALLER AND OTHER PROFESSIONAL SPORTSWOMEN. Sportswomen face sexism on many turns from close scrutiny of their looks to not getting the respect for what they do. A point which is illustrated by the Women’s World Cup being played on turf, something the male players would never be expected to do. Sportswomen need more sponsorship and media coverage to make their sport more popular. How do we get around this problem and attract more fans to support women's sport? 5. Tomboy Tirade Episode 48: Agents of G.E.E.K
"This week's episode is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where Persis and Raven find themselves as agents trying to escape S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters during an attack from some nasty Asgardians, along with Matt and Pete, hosts of the Phantastic Geek podcast, who are also agents secretly working for a sub-section of S.H.I.E.L.D, also known as G.E.E.K. Listen as we talk Agent Carter, Avengers: Age of Ultron and more." The Tomboy Tarts, Raven and Persis once again, find themselves in a precarious adventure, this time with Matt and Pete, hosts of the Phantastic Geek podcast, as S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters are compromised by Hydra to allow for some nasty Asgardians, loyal to Loki to attack. Along the way, Raven and Persis find out that Matt and Pete are also secret agents working for a sub-section of S.H.I.E.L.D, also known as G.E.E.K. and they lead the Tomboy Tarts to a secret underground exit to find a way to escape. As they trudge through dark corridors and tunnels to find an escape, here's what went down this week: 1. GUEST BIO We find out more about how Matt and Pete came together as hosts of The Phantastic Geek podcast and recall their close encounters on the podcast with Ming Na-Wen and Clark Gregg, who play Agents Melinda May and Coulson from the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D TV series.   2. NEWS HIGHLIGHTS - The success of the female Thor series. Apparently, first four Thor female-edition comic books have sold more than any male Thor comic books in 2012, proving that girlpower is more profitable. - there's also a secret Marvel movie about a lesser-known character called Crash Ryan that's in the works right now and we'll wait to see if this relatively unknown Marvel character's film will be able to hold steady at the box-office. - For Incredible Hulk fans who want to see a stand-alone Hulk film, the news is that it could or couldn't happen, only because the comic book character hasn't exactly had the best box-office run in ages and also because Marvel Studios and Universal still have to trudge through gazillion contracts in order to settle rights issues. How long that would take is anyone's guess. Meanwhile, expect to still see Bill Bixby hitchiking his way through episodic adventures on the 70s Incredible Hulk TV series now syndicating on the Syfy Channel.   3. AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D vs AGENT CARTER Then, it's time to clear the air on the Agent Carter vs Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D argument. Who wore their spy better? Peggy Carter or Agent Coulson and his band of merry S.H.I.E.L.D vigilantes? Matt, Pete, Persis and Raven weigh in on the the intricacies of the two TV shows so far.   4. AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON As the Asgardians close in, the Agents of G.E.E.K along with Agents Raven and Persis must find their way to Agent Coulson's bus before it's too late. In these trying moments, they decide to talk about Marvel's latest blockbuster, The Avengers: Age of Ultron. (Not much spoilers really, so you can listen safely) Things then start looking really dismal but Agent Pete finally leads the group to the workshop where 'the Bus' is waiting to pick them up or leave them dangling off a rope? Listen to this exciting Marvel-themed episode to find out.
