Marijuana use during pregnancy remains a topic of exploration, emphasizing the importance of informed decisions.

There are various initiatives and sources of entertainment that aim to foster connections and build stronger communities. Neighbor to Neighbor is an example of a volunteer network that encourages people to help each other and prepare for emergencies. Morning Footy is a podcast that brings football fans together to discuss the global game. Meanwhile, society continues to explore the use of marijuana for various purposes, including pregnancy, despite the lack of conclusive evidence on its safety. Ultimately, finding ways to connect with others and build strong communities can bring hope and positivity in uncertain times.

    • Marvel Cinematic Universe's Expansion and Avengers' BehaviorExcitement over Marvel's diverse new heroes, concern about viewers' time spent in theaters, and sympathy for John Delaney's campaign pressure

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding rapidly with new diverse superheroes and an increasing number of movies and TV shows. The discussion also touched upon the strange logic of the Avengers' behavior after their big team-up and the latest development in the Democratic presidential race, where a candidate, John Delaney, is facing pressure from his own campaign team to drop out. Regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the speaker expressed excitement about the diversity and the new heroes, but also concern about the overwhelming number of upcoming movies and shows, suggesting that viewers might be spending most of their time in the movie theater. The speaker also pondered why the Avengers don't seem to work together more often, despite their shared existence in the same world. In the political news, the speaker discussed John Delaney's predicament, expressing sympathy for him as he faces pressure from his own campaign team to quit the presidential race. The speaker noted that campaign staff are supposed to be the most supportive group, and it's disheartening to see them pushing for their candidate to drop out.

    • The Power of Celebrity Influence and FriendshipThe ASAP Rocky case demonstrates the impact of celebrity support and friendship, but also raises concerns about the length of detainment and potential consequences of being in jail.

The Swedish detention of American rapper ASAP Rocky, who is accused of an assault, has gained international attention due to his high-profile supporters, including Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, and even the involvement of President Trump. The incident highlights the power of celebrity influence and the lengths that friends can go to help each other in times of need. However, it also raises questions about the length of ASAP Rocky's detainment and the implications of being in jail, regardless of the conditions. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of freedom and the potential consequences of standing up for oneself.

    • Sweden's unwavering commitment to judicial independenceSweden maintains its stance on judicial independence, refusing to yield to external pressures including from world leaders

Sweden has a strong commitment to its judicial independence and will not be swayed by external pressures, including from the President of the United States. This was evident when Donald Trump attempted to intervene in the ongoing investigation involving rapper ASAP Rocky. Despite Trump's offer to personally vouch for Rocky and his tweets urging Swedish authorities to release him, Sweden maintained its stance and refused to grant bail due to Rocky being considered a flight risk. The former Swedish prime minister, Karl Bildt, made it clear that political meddling in Swedish investigations is strictly off-limits. This incident highlights Sweden's unwavering dedication to its judicial system and its unwillingness to compromise its principles, even when faced with pressure from a world leader.

    • People spending big bucks on seemingly unnecessary items at auctionsAuctions have become a stage for the wealthy to display their wealth through extravagant purchases of seemingly unnecessary items, such as a bunch of grapes for $11,000 or a Star Wars toy for $113,000, leaving many puzzled.

Auctions have become a platform for the rich to show off their wealth, sometimes spending extravagant amounts of money on seemingly unnecessary items. For instance, a bunch of grapes sold for $11,000, and a Star Wars toy fetched $113,000. These high prices leave many questioning the rationality of such purchases. Additionally, the Apollo 11 moon landing tapes sold for $1.8 million, a price that raises eyebrows given the availability of the footage online. The world of auctions can be amusing yet puzzling, as people continue to spend large sums on items that may not hold significant value beyond their status symbol appeal.

    • From Billy Elliot to Elton John and a Neo-Nazi, Jamie Bell's diverse roles showcase his versatilityJamie Bell's versatility as an actor is evident through his diverse roles in films like Billy Elliot, Rocketman, and Skin. His ability to embody various characters, from a young ballet dancer to a musical icon and a Neo-Nazi, highlights his range and commitment to his craft.

Jamie Bell's career has taken him from playing a young ballet dancer in "Billy Elliot" to portraying musical icon Elton John in "Rocketman," and more recently, a Neo-Nazi in "Skin." These diverse roles showcase Bell's versatility as an actor. During the interview, Bell shared a personal connection to Elton John, as their meeting during the premiere of "Billy Elliot" left a deep impact on the musician due to the film's themes of acceptance and the father-son dynamic. Bell's portrayal of Elton John in "Rocketman" was a celebration of the musician's life, vulnerability, and musical journey. Contrastingly, "Skin" presented a stark contrast with its themes of hate and intolerance. Bell's transformation into a Neo-Nazi for the film was a challenging experience, but one that allowed him to explore complex characters and further showcase his acting range.

    • Exploring the complexity of hateful characters in filmUnderstanding the root causes of intolerance and racism requires ongoing conversations and empathy, even when portraying hateful characters in film.

Complexity of portraying hateful characters in film and the importance of understanding the root causes of intolerance and racism. The actor in question grappled with empathizing with a white supremacist character, acknowledging the difficulty of judging such a character while acting. The film, however, is not a typical redemption story, but rather an exploration of the consequences of hate and the potential for compassion and change. The actor met the real-life inspiration for the character, a former Nazi, and found that the man's remorse and daily reckoning served as a reminder of the inheritable nature of racism and the need for ongoing conversations and understanding. The real hero of the story is Daryl Lamont Jenkins, who works to remove people from hate groups and promote understanding.

    • Recognizing heroes and building community connectionsAppreciate individuals standing up for causes, foster community bonds through initiatives like Neighbor to Neighbor, and stay informed about football with podcasts like Morning Footy.

There are individuals, like the person being interviewed on The Daily Show, who bravely stand up for important causes and tackle complicated issues, acting as true heroes in our society. It's essential to acknowledge and appreciate their efforts. Furthermore, building strong community connections is vital in uncertain times. Initiatives like Neighbor to Neighbor aim to help us do just that, encouraging us to rely on and support our neighbors for social bonds and preparedness. Lastly, for football fans, staying informed about the global game is now easier than ever with podcasts like Morning Footy, providing comprehensive coverage on various aspects of the sport.

She’ll be the first to tell you healthy habits don’t happen overnight nor without putting forth the effort and work, but it can happen, and BTW has a number of success stories to prove it. Ricki teaches us the mindset and tools she used to walk away from weed. Her tools are universal in helping with any change or whatever you want to walk away from in your life.

Since we interviewed her last year she has quit taking Adderall and any sort of stimulants.

In her interview with Newsweek, she said: “One year ago, I was taking 100 milligrams of adderall (and Vyvanse) trying to work up the courage to get off the medication.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been that terrified of walking away from something in my life.

“28-years on a VERY dangerous drug that controlled my mind and body was hard for me to wrap my head around. This wasn’t like walking away from weed…I knew that getting off this drug was going to make my life harder at first, not better.

“However, I also knew that staying on them was dangerous and holding me back from healing, expanding and understanding WHO I truly was and how my brain worked.

“So, I did what I always do…researched, educated myself and walked right into the most challenging journey I’ve ever been on.

And today, one year after making the decision to begin taking these steps, I’m 9 months completely off stimulants and sharing my story in Newsweek.” (December 2023)

Jim Lineberger - Valley Community Pantry

    vcpcares.org

The Valley Community Pantry was established in 1965 by Reverend Roy Schippling of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd located here in Hemet. As its mission grew and the needs of the local community increased, the Valley Community Pantry became an important resource in this valley and to the County of Riverside. In 1992, the Valley Community Pantry received its certification as a non-profit 501(c)3, providing charitable tax deductions to our supporters. Some research was done by Mike Schippling, the son of Reverend Roy Shippling, and his research showed that the Valley Community Pantry may have been the first or second food pantry in Riverside and possibly Southern California.
