parkrun Removes Competitive Stats and Data - What are Your Thoughts?

parkrun last week announced last week that they were removing competitive stats and data from their website.

Is this an inclusivity issue or is this around the gender debate in sport which has been coming up recently?

We invited Running Hub parkrun enthusiast Sammy onto the podcast to discuss the changes and how this impacts runners, what our thoughts are and what parkrun means to us.

Let us know what you think?

After we recorded this episode, parkrun also released this statement - https://www.parkrun.com/blog/news/2024/02/14/an-open-letter-from-russ-jefferys-ceo-parkrun-global/

Kelvin Kiptum - Honouring the Marathon World Record Holder

Kelvin Kiptum, the current marathon world record holder, unfortunately passed away on Sunday 11th February in a car accident alongside his coach Gervais Hakizimana.

Kelvin had a short but exciting career in marathon running, where he debuted with the fastest marathon debut of all time. He ran the fastest marathon in history at Chicago and was on track to being the first person to run under 2 hours for the marthon in a certified race.

As the news broke we wanted to dedicate an episode to his legacy and show the impact he's had on the running world in such a small space of time.

    RIP Kelvin and Gervais.
