Video Views, App Marketing, and Time Management

    enOctober 08, 2014

    Podcast Summary

    • Finding a time management system that works best for youEffectively manage time by prioritizing and creating infrastructure, whether through human assistance or technology. Align methods with personal behavior and value priorities.

Effective time management involves finding a system that works best for you, whether it be using a human assistant, technology, or a combination of both. Gary Vaynerchuk emphasizes the importance of prioritizing your time and creating infrastructure around it. He suggests that using a human being as a time manager may not be practical for most, but finding a method that aligns with your behavior is key. Additionally, Gary shares his reasoning for uploading videos directly to Facebook instead of linking to his website or YouTube - he's striving to become an expert in the platform and reach his audience where they are. Ultimately, it's essential to understand what you value and build a system that supports your goals and priorities.

    • Increase reach by being platform-specific and nativeProvide value and play the long game by creating and sharing consistent, ongoing content on the specific platform, increasing reach and building anticipation before product release.

Being platform-specific and native in your approach can significantly increase the reach of your content. Gary Vaynerchuk shared his experience of seeing a 20,000 to 30,000 person increase in video views when uploading natively instead of linking to external sources. This strategy is about providing value to the audience and playing the long game, rather than focusing on vanity metrics like YouTube views or website traffic. For those in the process of building an app, Gary suggested a focus on content creation as a means of building anticipation and a user base before the app's release. This content strategy, whether for an app or any product, should be consistent and ongoing. So, whether you're creating content for a fitness app, a productivity app, or even selling clocks, the key is to start creating and sharing valuable content now.

    • Creating a community and engaging with your audienceFocus on depth over width, create a content portal, engage with your audience, and promote your product to a engaged audience.

Building a successful business involves creating a community of like-minded individuals and providing valuable content to them before launching a product. Empathy and gratitude are important, but teaching self-awareness might not be the most effective way to make an impact on everyone. Instead, focusing on depth over width, doing meaningful things, and paying attention to your audience are teachable skills that can lead to success. To build a community, create a content portal on a platform like Medium, your own blog, or Rebel Mouse. Engage with your audience and gather them in a place where they are most likely to use your product. When the time is right, promote your product to this engaged audience. Daniel emphasizes the importance of depth over width, as the world is full of distractions and shallow experiences. By focusing on meaningful actions and paying attention to your audience, you can create a successful business and make a positive impact on people's lives. Remember, even as a busy entrepreneur or mother, it's essential to engage with your audience and show appreciation for their support. By doing so, you'll build a strong community that will be eager to try your product when it's ready.

    • Make health a priority, even in early stagesPrioritizing health early on can lead to long-term benefits, enabling greater productivity and engagement in personal and professional pursuits.

Prioritizing health, even in our early stages, can have significant long-term benefits. Gary Vaynerchuk, in a recent podcast episode, shared that if he could go back in time, he would have made health a higher priority, even if it meant sacrificing some leisure activities or working hours. He emphasized the importance of maintaining good health throughout one's life, which can enable us to be more productive and engaged in our personal and professional pursuits. This is a valuable reminder for all of us, especially as we strive to balance various aspects of our lives. So, let's make health a priority, even if it means making some sacrifices in the short term. As Gary mentioned, he's always open to feedback and critiques, so feel free to share your thoughts on this topic.

    • Sharing excitement for upcoming tech releases and engaging with fansThe speaker values his audience's support and shares his enthusiasm for new tech releases, encouraging engagement and participation in the conversation.

The speaker values the connection and engagement with his audience, and the support and enthusiasm from his fans keep him motivated and excited to continue producing content. He mentioned the upcoming release of the new iPhone and the Alibaba IPO as topics of interest for his audience, encouraging them to subscribe, share their thoughts, and stay tuned for the next episode. The speaker's passion for building businesses and his appreciation for his fans' loyalty create a sense of community and mutual appreciation. The simple yet profound question of the day is to share thoughts on the new iPhone and the Alibaba IPO, inviting the audience to engage and participate in the conversation.

The Most Important Question In Business

The Most Important Question In Business

Here’s the problem most people run into when they create content online: They think they have to have something to say. So many of you aren’t putting out content online because you think you need to have the perfect message, or something “valuable” to share (based on your own arbitrary opinion). And what I’m telling you is, you will get more business if you put out literally anything. If you’re an auto dealer, you could put out a 5 min video every afternoon just recapping what happened in your day. If you’re a real estate agent, you could post updates on what your opinions are about the Super Bowl teams. Get on social media and tell your truth … it’s really that simple.
