Meghan Owens and her family are incredibly involved in local Oak Creek community events, as well as in the life of 11|28 Community. They started attending from our second ever weekend worship Gathering, which took place at the Oak Creek Community Center, her place of employment at the time.

Her story is one of overcoming adversity, abusive relationships, and medical mysteries, and ultimately finding strength in her relationship with God.

"God reminded us that he was with us when our son, Griffin, was born. Griffin was tiny and premature, but he didn't have any lingering impacts, and I knew that God was there and he was on our side."

Bethany and her husband Daniel are longtime attenders and volunteers at 11|28. Bethany grew up in a home that emphasized church attendance, went to a Christian school, and even worked in a church day care at the congregation that her grandfather pastored. Still, her story is deeply relatable and you'll hear about the ways that she's felt high and low in her everyday and her faith life.

"My drinking cost me my job of 11 years. I lost apartment, fell behind on car payments - I hit rock bottom. I’d fallen down and picked myself back up before, but not like this."

Kurt Wahl first came to 11|28 Community after finding his rock bottom. Since first attending the church, he's reconnected with his family, found community in small groups, and opened himself to faith. His story is authentic and vulnerable, and we hope it inspires hope in your own life.

Finding consistent rhythms in our lives centered on Jesus and surrounded with people who will encourage us can help us to override the hypocritical tendencies we all have.

"When you meet people there, in a nonjudgmental way, that says 'Hey, I wanna show you another way,' that can change peoples' lives. Because the kids in my school are comfortable coming to talk to me because they know that everything that I'm doing is out of love."

Sarah Gruettner is a mother and a school nurse for a K3-12th Grade school in the city of Milwaukee. In her story, she shares her earliest experiences with finding faith in her family, having a child with a medical complication, and doing life different in her workplace.

In the first talk of our new series "For the Bible Tells Me So" Mike and Colleen Francisco unpack what some have said is the "scariest verse in the whole Bible."

Aleta Schilling first attended 11|28 Community at our inaugural Christmas Eve gathering. She lives in Oak Creek and is a branch manager for a local bank. Aleta joined a Life Group and found a community of people that cares for her and her family, listens to one another, and makes room for people to ask the sometimes hard and scary questions about life and faith.

Aleta and her husband serve on the First Impressions team and are some of the friendly faces that will welcome you to our space on a Sunday morning.
